Good drive know selection, looks Like good food menu but didn't try. Super busy on a Friday night, no seat except outside in a bit of light rain. Food smelt good.

Came here for a Sunday roast whilst on holiday in the area. Absolutely relish, lots of it, perfectly cooked and plenty of lovely vegetables. Staff were friendly, polite and very helpful.

Such a shame. The place is looking tired and grubby. Came for lunch having not visited since earlier in the year. Friendly staff, good beer and the food was reasonaby tasty, but the tables were stained and dirty and the whole place looks like it...More

The Lord Nelson is a historic pub with a warren of cosy rooms and a small enclosed beer garden at the back. Friendly staff will let you taste the real ale and cider before you decide which to buy. The rhubarb cider is very good....More

From the front, The Lord Nelson look to be very small, but once through the door you'll find plenty of space inside and out back. We had a pizza & a burger. Both were freshly prepared and very tasty.

We popped in for a family meal in the beer garden. They do a great deal - a free bottle of wine with two medium pizzas. My expectations for the wine weren't high but it was very good. The service is good and the ambiance...More

Had an overnight stay in Oakham after cycling Rutland Water. The Nelson is just as described by other reviewers. The menu had just changed and the staff were eager for feedback. The steak and ale pie was wonderful and the mac and cheese also great....More

We wanted a family meet up that was between Norfolk and Kidderminster near Birmingham. When searching for places online this came up. It was well worth the trip. We went on a Sunday and the area was tranquil and the place itself was amazing and...More

Tucked away in a corner of Oakham Market Place, you'd think this place was tiny. But once you get inside it's huge! A group of 4 of us ate here. We all ordered pizzas (one of their specialties) each customised with our own choices of...More

I popped in this establishment with a good friend for a couple of beers whilst our ladies wondered around the shops. Sitting on the market square I found this to be a local pub which to be honest I would use regularly if I was...More

The Lord Nelson is a beautiful pub tucked away in the heart of Oakham. As just one of two towns in Rutland, Oakham itself is packed with character. The Lord Nelson fits in perfectly – dating back to the 1500’s the building has been lovingly restored the KNEAD Pubs way.

With charming dining areas throughout the building, you’ll be able to find a cosy spot next to the Aga or enjoy a breath of fresh air in the secluded pub garden. The Lord Nelson is bursting with character, but its relaxed atmosphere makes it the perfect spot for a bite to eat and a chilled out pint.

A centrepiece of the Lord Nelson is the delicious food, fantastic selection of ales and range of wines and other beverages. Here at the Lord Nelson we’re passionate about serving up the perfect pint, along with a mouthwatering meal that combines traditional pub grub with a modern twist.

Our well-known, stonebaked (and scrumptious) KNEAD pizzas are always on the menu, plus a great range of lunch or dinnertime dishes. That’s what makes this pub in Oakham the ideal spot for dinner with family, a bit to eat over a meeting or simply a quick drink with friends.
