This was our lunch stop on a group walk from Doynton via Dyrham. We had pre-booked, and were shown through to the dining room, where our four legged canine member was also made welcome. Nearly half the group went for the faggots, but all the...More

Very good Sunday lunch with friends. The mark of a good Sunday lunch is to deliver comfort food better than your mums, without being fussy or pretentious. Good portion sizes and plenty of fresh veggies. We didn't book and came quite late on a very...More

Nothing's really improved in the two years since we came last. This place could easily be five stars for us but the environment we had to celebrate our 29th Wedding Anniversary in last night was horrid. Such a shame as the food was good but...More

I urge you to support this superb pub. Lovely setting, helpful young staff and clearly a chef who knows what he is doing. Lovely "Wye Valley" asparagus, rib eye steak cooked to perfection, decent wine list, great service, very reasonable money. Rural pubs such as...More

A return to the pub with a garden; one which we used to visit frequently when the children enjoyed the garden and could run around safely. Not much has changed apart from the menu. A decent menu of starters and main meals with a good...More

Description
Where are we? Welcome to The Bull Inn in the peaceful village of Hinton. which lies only 20 minutes from the centres of both Bath and Bristol and less than 5 minutes away from Junction 18 of the M4. About The Bull This ancient stone built building dates back to the 17th century. In its time it has been an Inn, a farm and a dairy. Like all buildings of this age it also has it's fair share of ghosts. Be always on the lookout for the lady in grey! About the food We Love to serve Traditional British Pub food and we take great pride in making the dishes the best they can be and still great value for money! We also have a Specials board which changes weekly and can be a real treat! We believe that to achieve great food you only need to look on your doorstep. So with that in mind we have chosen where possible to source our ingredients from local suppliers who share the same passion for quality as we do. Where possible we use our home grown seasonal fruit, herbs and vegetables from our own allotment to the rear of the pub. Our friendly and cheeky gardener Rockie does an incredible job for us and keeps everything in order - if you have a spare minute pop round to have a look or a chat, if only to give him a chance for a breather. Our butchers are Barlett and Sons of Bath and Bristol Meat Trader, they both deal in locally sourced, succulent, farm assured meats ensuring their products are of the best quality. All of their meat is prepared using traditional butcher methods and they mature their beef for over 21 days to ensure we get the most tender and succulent steak possible. As well as providing lamb, pork and bacon they also manufacture their own sausages on the premises providing us with the best quality sausages in the area. Our Fishmonger Wing of St. Mawes(Cornwall) is a small family run company with over 30years experience. We source all our fish from mussels, cod, scallops, plaice, sole, prawns and lobsters from Wing daily. They care passionately about sustainable sourcing and deliver to us every night after the fish is caught in the morning. Our eggs are from our 18 lovely Hens which can be found to the rear of the pub, they are lovely characters and lay some exceptional eggs for our Ham, Egg and Chips! When we can't source produce from our garden we use A-DAVID of Bristol which has over 50 years experience. They care as passionately as us about the provenance and locality of produce and over the years has amassed a large number of local growers who are incredibly passionate and dedicated to what they do. We use Marshfield Farm ice cream which is truly amazing luxury ice cream and sorbet. They are just 5minutes up the road so you can't get more local than that. We love our little customers just as much as our fully grown ones! So with that in mind we have created a children's menu that is full of tasty dishes just like the main menu. If your child would like something that's not on the menu please just ask and we will do our very best to do it for you! How lucky we are to have such great local suppliers and producers to share with you. We hope you will think our efforts to source the best produce is worthwhile. About the beer As a Wadworth pub we serve all the usual brews, including 6X, Henry's and we always have a guest on which changes weekly. We also stock draught Heineken, Amstel, Thatchers Gold, Stowford Press and Corvus Stout. About the wine We have a substantial selection of wines by the glass. If you are uncertain of your choice please ask the bar staff for a sample taste. We also have a quality range of classical wines which are available by the bottle. Allergies Some foods & ingredients can cause an allergic reaction. If you suffer from a food allergy, please inform a member of staff.
