Went in for a quick drink while away for a weekend and ended up staying for a couple, very atmospheric old style pub. Lovely quiet area to sit in and larger bar with live music on when we where in

Our first visit to this pub was just for a drink as we had already eaten but it had been recommended for its food. The pub was packed with gents in Christmas jumpers ( yes I thought I had slept through summer!!) apparently it was a local golf club hosting a visiting golf club on tour. The pub was full... More

Loved the building. A bit hard to find tucked away off Church Street near the lake shore. No view. This place has a classic quiantesential British pub feel with a wonderful warmth from servers and ambiance. You order food from the servers behind the bar and they assign you a number based on the table you are seating. Drinks were... More

This was our night time place to visit for good banter and even better cask beers.A popular watering hole with visitors to Bowness.

We called in for drinks to get out of the rain. The pub is full of character, staff were very friendly, menu looked good but we had already eaten, food coming out also smelt delicious. We will be returning only next time with empty tummies.

Dropped in for lunch, great range of real ales and plenty of choice for a quick bite. Prices are very reasonable and service both at the bar and food were superb. Very charming inside, a real old pub. Outside seating if the weathers nice too! Would definitely go back.

Took a day out from walking due to inclement weather and caught the water taxi from Ambleside, so glad we did. This is the oldest pub in Bowness (1612 I think) and was visited by Charles Dickens. If it's good enough for Charlie boy then we decided it was good enough for us. Great selection of beers and food was... More
