Currently enjoying a cosy visit with a pint in hand. Nice and friendly with plenty of seating. Just the ticket after a day if walking in bones.

We visited over the weekend was good that they accepted dogs. Was great food and reasonable price. Only thing that let the place down was the lady behind the bar with blue hair was very rude and had bad customer service.

A cold wet windy night and we were looking for somewhere that allowed dogs and served food. The John Peel is opposite the Beatrix Potter museum and ticks all the boxes. We had the Grill which consisted of pork, lamb, steak, gammon and more ... and the Tuna pasta bake which was delicious. The staff were pleasant and friendly. A... More

We were wandering around Bowness on a Saturday afternoon trying to find somewhere to eat, having tried a number of spots we stumbled across this place, I'm glad we did. There is no bare wood, polished marble or slate plates here, this is good honest pub grub served by a good bunch. The place was quiet when we rocked up... More

Just returned from four days in Windermere, saw that John Peel Inn let dogs into pub, coal fire on and as long as you were near it was nice and warm, if you were in the opposite end of room it was very cool. The food was ok, nothing great, lamb stew with dumpling frozen chips, frozen veg, and sizzling... More

Having read the reviews we were looking forward a meal in the Old John Peel. Staff had made a big effort for halloween, but have to say the food wasn't great. Had steak pudding which had been over microwaved ( suet hard ,meat burnt ), chips also hard , peas and carrots lukewarm and tasteless. Decent pint of cask ale,... More

Did not have food but a drink or two. Great atmosphere. The toilet sinks were blocking up a bit though

Great pub with great beer and the food looked amazing although we had eaten so did not dine. Prices are good and the staff are really lovely. Fires lit made it an ideal retreat after a long walk. Pub done up for Halloween was a really nice touch
