A welcome warm meal in a vibrant bar with adjacent restaurant . Basic food but well presented and a very helpful waitress Karen who accommodated 3 hungry cyclists who hadn't booked.

I visited with two friends for an evening meal. We have been several times previously, and have always had an excellent meal. However, this visit was very disappointing. The food arrived promptly after ordering. All three of us thought our meals were not up to the usual standard of this restaurant. I had a pasta dish which was tasteless and... More

Enjoyed a beautiful meal here tonight. My partner had fish chowder to start and l had duck pate. Both starters were perfectly presented and tasted delicious. My main was chicken schnitzel and my partner had beef stroganoff both meals were gorgeous as we tasted each others. Equal to the delightful meals was the customer service of the management and team.... More

Our waitresses decided that the best time to clean the tables was while we were eating, cleaning products and dirty clothes placed on our table didn't make for a pleasant experience. On this occasion I decided not to mention it to her, if you don't realise that's unacceptable I'm probably wasting my breath so we just laughed it off.

It would of been nice to be shown to a table with menus rather than getting a drink at the bar then choosing a seat and waiting for the menu, that been said the service from that point was great and the food was superb

Popped into the Duke to add an additional meal to our group booking and was asked that we be 'prompt' as they were very busy. Although we were all on time the food wasn't and we waited 40 mins for the it to be served. I'd asked for my curry to be made extra spicy, but this wasn't done. Instead... More

As i was staying at the hotel on business I tried the hotel restaurant. From a decent menu it was difficult to decide. I had roast cumbrian beef, with spring onion and bacon mash, roast root veg and gravy. It was absolutely delicious and everything worked together well. For a treat I had sticky toffee pudding for dessert; again absolutely... More
