19 quid for 6 small pieces of lamb and 200 grams of kale. Total rip off. The quality of the food was ok, but the size of the meal was utterly ridiculous for the price.

As always, excellent first class food and an amazing selection of drinks. A true high end establishment without being pretentious that will stand up against the best the U.K. has to offer.

A quality chef would not let substandard food leave the kitchen. And should apologise to customers in person. Unfortunately my main meal was returned to the kitchen as it was inedible. I had ordered sea bass but on cutting into the fish the "bloodline" was full of blood and the flesh around it was not cooked. The fillet should not... More

I went there last week to celebrate two of my friends birthdays and wish we hadn't chosen the place. I ordered pea and spinach risotto, which was basically boiled rice with a bit of green veg thrown in, it was utterly tasteless, in no way would I describe it as risotto! I then tried the cheesecake for dessert, and no... More

Have been to the bunch a few times for lunch and dinner, which has been good. Popped in one evening for food with friends and sat in the bar area. Had a drink then went up to bar to order food - told bluntly that they were no longer doing food as been an argument with the chef and he... More

Nothing on the restaurant menu that took the wife's fancy so decided not to hang around until it opened and went for fish & chips instead. Nice sized piece that was hot, crisp and nice thin batter. Not too many chips but more than adequate and good quality. Wine by the glass is a bit expensive but a good range... More

We booked a table for 8 as a birthday treat. We were seated in what is the restaurant area. The menu here lacked choice. What it lacked in choice it certainly made up in its price!! Unfortunately 7/8 of our party wasn't fussed on the limited menu and wanted to choose from the bar menu. We were told that we... More

It was a lunchtime visit. The lunchtime menu was limited choice. So I ordered from the specials and had the beef brisket with purple potatoes and veg. The beef was cooked slow and tasted delicious and very tender. We ordered a bottle of red wine Italian sangevose which complimented the meal well.

Description
The Bunch of Grapes at Ynysangharad Road Pontypridd backs onto one of the last few remnants of the Glamorganshire Canal which was constructed in 1792.

Built circa 1800 to satisfy the thirst of the hot forge masters who were making all the heavy anchor chains for the British Navy and all the passing canal workers on their way with to Cardiff with full loads of Coal and Iron Ore, business was brisk with male dominated ale consumption. This trend continued to well into the mid 1900's. It is rumoured that when Isombard Kingdom Brunel came to visit the Chainworks he was so impressed with what he saw and on securing the deal to supply him he celebrated with an ale in the Bunch of Grapes.

Now tastefully and sympathetically refurbished the Bunch of Grapes offers a warm relaxed atmosphere both in the public bar and the restaurant where the emphasis is on quality, locally sourced foods, ales and ciders.
