It's been a pub since 1544 and is full of history, now a really good spot for lunch before/during/after a walk by the Lancaster Canal. Standard pub menu but quality good, portions generous and service excellent from plentiful, friendly and attentive staff. Three guest beers as well as usual brands. Decent choices for vegetarians. Happy to recommended and will return.

was looking around for a quick bite to eat for our tea and decided on the hest bank at last minute! we were promptly seated and quickly served! the atmosphere was friendly and the food was fresh and served fairly quick! only downside was too much butter on vegetables which meant they had a over powering sickly buttery taste! all... We called into this Inn on a rainy day, having driven past many times. The interior is charming with many sections to either enjoy a drink or eat. We called in for lunch. We both had steak pie, and can honestly say it's the best steak pie we have even eaten. The coffees, food and the sweets we had were... More

This is a busy but lovely place to go for some great pub food. We went around 7.30 pm & although it was really busy we didn't have a long wait despite there being only two staff. There was a varied menu & the food was well cooked & well presented by extremely cheerful & helpful staff. There are two... More

The staff and managers were so friendly and welcoming. I have two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and it was raining so we couldn't sit in the beautiful garden overlooking the canal, however we were allowed to sit in the bar area and have a lovely lunch. Food excellent and service with a smile - strongly recommend this Inn.

The food was lovely, and the atmosphere was great until the dogs came in! We were not told that the area we were eating in was dog friendly. Up until that point I was really enjoying my lunch, after the dogs arrived I could not eat anymore, the smell of dog put me right off!

We have stopped at the Hest Bank on many occasions and have always enjoyed the good quality pub fare and beer that they provide. Definitely recommendable hence it can get very busy at peak times.

Visited on a Friday lunchtime, no booking and were seated easily. Loads on the menu with good variety - not just a standard pub lunch selection. Went for the Morracan Lamb special and beef and venison cobbler. Cobbler huge and tasty, lamb tasty and tender. Service was friendly and helpful. Have been struggling to find non pub grub in Morecambe... More

This is an excellent pub in a pretty village right next to the Lancaster canal. We had lunch and a beer and were not disappointed. The baguettes were large and the chips were delicious. The beer was served well and there was a good choice. The bar staff were polite and welcoming and the pub itself is very homely and... More
