Nice location and interior. Visited at the end of the walk, cut short due to torrential rain. All we wanted was a drink (mainly hot), but were greeted sarcastically because we hadn't warned them of our arrival in advance. They 'did the business' to be fair - but not encouraged to return, some swearing they NEVER will.

Stopped by at this place for early dinner. Pretty area, off the beaten track. The bar area (to the left) had a handful of local regulars. The bar area is pretty small so hard to hold a conversation without everyone hearing. We felt a bit out of place as everyone seemed to know each other . We moved into the... More

Called in today for a brief lunch with two friends. It was my first visit, and as always, first impressions count a lot. I received a warm and friendly welcome from both Gary and Keith. The Chequers is full of atmosphere, and charm, and is located in the little hamlet of Heaverham, a beautiful part of Kent. The food that... More

The Chequers gets better and better, a great Sunday lunch, really first class. They even produced a chocolate cake for my wife's birthday! I highly recommend the Bouvet, Loire Saumer fizz! Excellent value at £21.00, at £12.00 in Majestic, it just goes to show there's no need for 300% mark up from warehouse to table. Well done guys.

What a night, went to The Chequers for New Year, was an excellent evening. Gary & Keith were the perfect hosts, as usual - the band were superb, the food was great and the atmosphere was absolutely brilliant. Definitely going next year. Wishing them both another year of success at this pub, well worth a visit for the food and... More

We had eaten here a few times recently and were charmed by the character of the pub, the welcome we received from Gary and Keith and the wonderful homely food cooked by Alan. Following the funeral of my father-in-law we had planned to have the 'wake' at the Chequers as the larger dining room and attached barn provided room for... More

Looking for somewhere to eat lunch as we drove past a sign, pulled off and stopped here. We had a lovely lunch, reasonable prices. Low ceiling and loads of character. I will come back to eat here again. Next time I may try out the bangers and mash, as it smelt and looked delicious. Quite a small pub and off... More

Went for an evening meal with friends, lovely country inn, warm & cosy, nice staff. Menu choices quite limited but something for everyone. Those that had starters chose pate' & chilli prawns, the pate' was plentiful & tasty, the portion of prawns was very small for the price but nevertheless also tasty. Mains chosen were calves liver, meat pie &... More
