Helpful, friendly staff. Especially Tom Fitzgearald. Makes a great pub feel like a cosy local. He makes all of his customers feel special and important. Pubs nowadays don't have the personal touch, this one dies. Thanks Tom

The great thing about Weatherspoon's is that you pretty much get waht you expect every time, wherever you are. A couple of colleagues and I were staying in Hartlepool and ate here. Good beer, adequate food, consistent service and great value. I guess the only...More

The new town of West Hartlepool can be said to date from 1844, when the Hartlepool West Harbour & Dock Company was formed. The following January, Ralf Ward Kackson cut the first sod for the coal dock, which he opened in June 1847. The name 'ward room' derives from a meeting place om board ships. It links Ward Jackson and ship-building with this premises and modern town, which prides itself on its marina and historic quay. Ralph Ward Jackson's statue stands in front of this pub.
