A through and through lovely place with both a very nice restaurant and a cosy pub area. Very reasonably priced. The beer was cool and fresh, and the food worth another visit. Friendly and prompt service, all in all a very good ambience.

Big place with a carvery/pub grub set up. Absolutely fine. Cheerful, efficient staff, large helpings of good quality food at sensible prices. They are understandably popular and busy.

I used to dine here fairly regularly many years ago and was always impressed….good food, well cooked and presented, and at fair prices. Then it was sold…and changed…and not the same. I’m not against change, if there’s a clear improvement. Otherwise, why bother!? A couple...More

Nice decor and chummy staff. My partner's cod and chips was perfect: thin crispy batter, home cooked chips and yummy mushy peas. My food was not so good: bought in steak and ale pie, instant mash & frozen peas all covered in a glutinius, over...More

Description
The Pub has moved with times and although over 150 years old boasts eight four star gold rated rooms, a public bar, popular with the locals that shows all live sport and has great bands every fortnight. Our lounge bar is fantastic for relaxing in with large leather sofas and armchairs with a touch of historic Charlestown. The restaurant is modern, open plan and serves locally sourced food. And if the weather's good our patio and garden is the ideal place to spend a few hours or more!
