This is a top notch restaurant. We discovered the restaurant in the Michelin Guide, but were also directed there, with a high recommendation, by a very knowledgable concierge in Milan. The restaurant is in the heart of the old town, serving up traditional regional fare. Based on some reviews, one might think that the pizzas are the highlight of the... More

A pretty nice restaurant in the old city center. The review would be for 3/5 but the service was very good so decided to give 4/5. Nothing spectacular but their pizza was actually very good!

We visited this restaurant 3 years ago on our first trip to Lecce. We fell in love with the ambiance immediately. The meal that followed was exceptional. Now, 3 years later, we chose to enjoy that same quality. We were not disappointed. La Torre di Merlino is beautiful, warm, and inviting. Our waiter was delightful, being very patient with our... We tried the pizzas here on the recommendation of our host Giovanni and were very pleased that we did so. The restaurant is in a lovely quiet open space off a main walkway in Lecce old town and the white linen covered tables outside were a perfect place to eat drink and watch the world walk by. The pizza's are... More

The first dinner we had here was outside on the terrace. I had veal cheeks that were so tender, they melted in my mouth. My wife had smoked salmon, which she also enjoyed. The next night we came back and ate pizza inside with a group of friends (they won't serve pizza outside). I had a quatro staggione, and it... More

We ate here on the last night of our fabulous week long cycling holiday. The restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel. To say it was disappointing is an understatement. The waiter was very abrupt with us, to the point of rudeness, and clearly is unhappy in his work. The bruschetta is nothing like anything you will eat anywhere in... More

Took the Lonely Planet recommendation and stopped here for lunch I had the cod tempura followed by the spaghetti with Norwegian butter and anchovies, my companion had their twist on bruschetta it's is different! Followed by their take on carbonara which was good. Our waiter was slightly harassed by needing to look after a group but was friendly and apologised... More

Charming place to sit with a lot of small alcoves. Nice wine list. Friendly waiter. But our tasting menu was way too heavy, with no finesse whatsoever. Appetizers were good, but then we received a purée of favabeans: was like baby food, then linguine with chickpeas, then orecchiette with cream, then a lump of veal cheek with a thick brown... More

Lecce is a disappointing town. The duomo, public garden and Roman amphitheatre are surprisingly boring, so we found this place to lift our spirits. The menu looked appetising, but what agony awaited the weary traveller. The mushroom souffle was a precooked brown sponge -like blob heated up and served in some weird custard, and tortellini filled with braised beef was undercooked ,the... More
