Right in the main square of Montecatini Alto, this restaurant was recommended by a local bar owner. The pizzas were fairly average, but not great – they may well have a pizza oven, but they did not taste or look like they had been cooked in one. Service was good, without being great, and prices were reasonable, Most of the... More

The location is great, on the plaza of Montecatini Alto... and the building is amazing too (it was a theatre). The food was quite good (we had pasta) but the wine was pretty bad

Schiacciata is wonderful, warm, hand-prepared Italian regional flatbread. My grandmother, born and raised in Montecatini Alto from about 1892-1910, prepared for her 12 grandchildren, during the 1960s in southern California, a treat we remember as “stet-chatta”, a wonderful fresh flatbread we’d consume quickly with melted butter. In 2010, my first visit to Tuscany, I looked all over for “stet-chata”, finding... More

My partner and I have been to this restaurant as English speaking tourists. After placing our order, the waitress brought the class of wine we ordered... Which was more like cheap wine (or expensive vinegar)... We wait for the appetisers to make the remark about the wine... Funny thing is the glass of wine the waitress brought us afterwards was... Had dinner with 9 family members and had a fantastic meal. Very accommodating and worked with us on the menu items. No English was spoken by the staff but, they treated us warmly and we had a wonderful time.

We stopped here on our way from Bologna to Florence. It was a beautiful country inn, in the heart of Tuscany. We had a lunch of meats and cheeses and bruschettas which were some of the best we had in Italy. Staff was great and lunch on the terrace garden was amazing.

This restaurant is located at the top of the square, so you have to pass 8 to 10 other very inviting outside dining areas before you get to Le Maschere. We dined once inside and once outside and on both occasions were very satisfied. Wine is only served by the glass but is reasonably priced and of acceptable quality. The... More

Been to this restaurant a couple of times when on holiday in the region as part of a tour group. Meal was all pre-arranged so it was a set menu. However what we were provided with was very good and plenty of it. Traditional Tuscan fare at reasonable price. Friendly staff. Its well worth taking the funicolare to Montecatini Alto... More

Well worth taking the funicolare up the moutain to eat in this enchanting little place. The food was delicious and the service very friendly. We really enjoyed the traditional Tuscan specialities. Prices are very reasonable considering the lovely location of the restaurant. The medieval piazza is a gorgeous place to eat in, very romantic. The actual building is an old... More
