This has been our best meal in Italy so far, no menu, but the owner explains what he has, and you choose what you want. He makes the pasta and cooks the meat in front of you, and the door to the kitchen is always...open so you can see what is going on. They open at 8, but well worth the wait, most locals arrive towards 9, recommend to book if you want to arrive at that time. Food was great as was the host. You are certainly made welcome. It's also fun to see the host making pasta in front of you as well as watching the assortments of meat on the grill. No menu just given what is the days special.

The result was plate after plate of amazing food. The anti pasti were excellent and lots of them. We had lunch here with Italian relatives when the restaurant they intended to take us too was fully booked - a great piece of luck or we...wouldn't have found this little gem. We were recommended to this restaurant by Italian friends. The location is unassuming and you get no hint of the delight that awaits inside. It is simply furnished , the central feature is a charcoal oven/grill on which bread and meat are cooked. We had...a series of delicious courses of typical Vastese food. The owner and his wife described their food as "simple and peasant based". The ingredients are fresh and based on what's available on the day. The dishes are unique and absolutely delicious. We ate two amazing bean based dishes - one with chick peas and...the other with fava beans - we were amazed at their simplicity and deliciousness. The meat was tasty, tender and grilled to perfection. Dessert was also amazing and so were the liqueurs (all home made). To top it off, it was cheap. You could never feed 7 people with that amount of food and drink for the same price back in the UK. We will be back. Highly recommended.More
