We have now spent six winters in Montenero di Bisaccia since 2016 (24 months total). Among the fine restaurants in the area, we found this family run fish specialty restaurant to be the best. Mom and Dad do the kitchen, while Vladimir and his lovely...wife handle the front. Incredibly fresh fish (some direct from Sardinia) ensure that every dish is spectacular. We missed last year because of COVID, and waited impatiently for warmer weather, so we could safely dine outside (we had observed the chef taking breaks at an outside table). We waited five months for warm weather, and on a day that was 20C we drove from Montenero to Vasto and walked to the restaurant. When we reached the restaurant, I forgot to remove my mask, so Vladimir did not recognize me. When I requested a"tavalo esterno" (outside table), he angrily said: "Impossible! I cannot expose my waitress to the cold. It is winter!!" I wanted to show him a photo of a meter of snow at our house in New Hampshire and tell him that he does not know what winter is! Despite this sad end to our relationship, I encourage all to try this special place. We were victims of the Italian culture which thinks wind and cool temperature cause illness, which I, as a physician, know is untrue. We will always regret not being able to return to Il Corallo!
