I wanted to give this restaurant a 4.5 out of 5 stars because my only complaint was the really weird dessert that was inedible. The first two courses were delicious, especially the foi gras “spring roll”. It is actually a log of foi gras wrapped...in a won ton wrapper and fried in duck fat, it was unbelievably delicious and a unique take on the usual slice of foi gras served as a 1st course. The main course was also delicious, being a delicate white fish in a flavorful sauce. Then came dessert. I was looking forward to a yummy treat at the end of a great meal. My usual choice is a chocolate dessert but none were offered, so I got the pumpkin cake with lemon ravioli. It was… Weird. Tasteless. Just avoid. Kind of a letdown after two great courses. I would recommend if they want to push the boundaries and try something inventive like non sweet desserts, they also add at least one actual sweet dessert for us dummies who just want a real dessert at dessert. 😳 Would I come back, and recommend to others? Definitely just avoid dessert!More

Very good value hotel in perfect location near old town. Perfect for walking around town. Staff are good. Rooms on the small side but adequate. Didn’t try restaurant but looked well attended.

This is kind of an update to my review of 2017, our first visit. This is the fourth time we have eaten at La Coulevrine and it has become a go to place in Sarlat for some years now.. We went for the weekday lunch,...and, despite being placed a little away from the main exterior seating, enjoyed the usual nice atmosphere, very good and friendly service and excellent value food. We have never been disappointed with any of our food choices and it was the same this time. We always recommend this place to friends who do not know it. Well worth checking outMore

Basically 3 or 4 old buildings combined into a hotel. So floors did not meet very well, meaning a lot of snake-like corridors and up and down stairs to get to your room. This added to the charm of the place, but did not help...with heavy luggage. Very good menu and breakfast room. Room was fine for our stay - clean and comfortable, including an electric kettle. WiFi was only accessible in the lobby and breakfast area.More

Nice ambiance. I liked the foie gras. Our entrees were OK but not great. Portions were on the small side The dessert was uninspired. Overall, it was acceptable but not great.

We happened on this restaurant because it was across the street from the laundromat where we were doing a load of laundry! It was lunchtime, and we were just looking for something nearby. What a treat we were in for! We sat on the patio,...under a shade umbrella on a warm October day. The service was prompt and cordial. Two of us shared an entree and a main course. We chose the crème brûlée au foie gras, which was elegantly presented, a rich creamy foie gras with candied onions and little poppyseed breadsticks. And the flavor was amazing! Our main course was pork belly flavored with garlic and other spices, with a little eggplant purée around it (I’m not a fan of eggplant, but this taste was very good), with some baby potatoes. Tender and delicious! With a couple glasses of wine, our total bill was just over €40.More

At the end of the day after we visited the nice old city of Sarlat we enjoyed a dinner at the terrace of this hotel restaurant. We enjoyed very much with delicious meals. The menu has a lot of choices, so one should come here...more often to taste all. The waiters were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the dinner very much.More

good hotel and restaurant. hot night so absence of aircon was a negative but i understand there may be problems installing it in this historic building. sharing starter platter was excellent with range of foie gras and cured meats and cheese. had faux fillet main...but overfaced by size and there was no fish option at dinner and veg was puree of carrot. no light options. what there was was basic French classic food. service good.More

My husband and I (both vegan) visited Sarlat for a Saturday market day and found La Couleuvrine. They offer one vegan starter, main dish and dessert. We ordered all three to share and they were all delicious. They also had some delicious and inexpensive local...wines to offer. We dined outside on a warm fall day and the service was wonderful, attentive without being intrusive. The hostess spoke English, but that was the only English we encountered. Fortunately, I enjoy being pushed to use my rusty French!More

Well, if I had to summarize the place, it would be: great food (the Chef seems to be a genius!), but overall could do better. First my reservation on the 10/06/21 was taken by a young man somehow distant and a bit 'too matter of...fact'. We didn't feel any warmth coming out of him; perhaps a bit too 'blasé' by the cohort of tourists checking in and out - although, after months of closure... Anyway, we arrived and were seated after a little wait - no issue with that. We were told that we will 'have to' scan the QR Code in order to access the menu. Well, perhaps it would have been nicer if we would have been offered this option or given the choice for a materialized menu. But what surprised us most was that there was no wedge to secure the wobbly tables on the terrace. For a restaurant of that renown, we could have expected that at least, no? Sometimes small details make customer's experience edging one way rather than another! Anyway, Stephanie was up to the job that evening - thanks!More

Been there today to ask for a table! Unfortunately the waiter was not just very unfriendly telling me there aren’t any tables left but he also left us with that arrogant look! What I did not understand was the idea of at least ten empty...tables outside and even more inside! Why didn’t he even pretend to look and check.... anyway, won’t try it again! Not even for a free meal. They should have in mind the city is full of other restaurants offering much better meal deals! And i am sure the quality does not differ that much ( I saw the waiter!!! 😉)More
