Another old place right in the heart of the Altstadt and with all the other pubs a very short walk away, this pub is in an old building. I suggest having the "Smoked Beer" with your meal as this is what they are known for. The beer was one of the best smoked beers I have had in town. It... More

We had a lovely dinner for 4 of us. Arrived at 6 and the place was already full - we were given a table in a room they opened for us. This too filled quickly. Two of us had the schnitzel which was very nice, came with a side salad which added a real freshness. Also came with chips -... More

Our food was very good. I had the turkey steak and salad. My husband had sauerbraten , finishing with apple strudel. Everything was great. The portions were large and the apple strudel had a nice level of spice. The service was also good. Prices were reasonable.

Good price / quality for food. Good local beer as well. Seems to be crowded during dinner time, but if you arrive earlier (6.30pm) is ok. You can pay by card if you want, not only german EC :)

Mainly local people eat here, as it is slightly off the tourist area, so good local food and great beer

Over the road the Schlenkerla was very busy but inside this restaurant it was relatively quiet. We dont know why. The service was very good, the pork shoulder (Schauferla) was superb and the Schlenkerla rauchbier was an excellent match. Was good value for money. Even the Schlenkerla beers on tap were the same price as over the road (I had... More

This is one of the greatest experiences in the German cuisine that I have ever tasted in my life! I ate Schäuferla, it's a grilled pork shoulder with savoy cabbage and potato dumpling. It's really a succulent plate and very fulfilling. I had their traditional smoked beer and it was way over the top! Loved every sip and every bite... More

Left much to be desired. First we were seated in breakfast room of hotel. Second, service was very slow. Third, I ordered Bavarian cheese plate. It was more like 4 scoops of processed cheese spread -- not good. My son had one of the sausage variety plates. The sausages were mediocre at best. The potato dumpling was a congealed mass... More

The Good Friday was a busy day. The weather was cold, too. So the demand of seats was strong. At least during the prime time, which was the time you visit our house. Unfortunately, we couldn’t have seated you in the restaurant itself, we offered you a table in our extra room. Which is also used for the breakfast service.... More

Description
Our kitchen is open all day from 11 am to 10 pm and serves Franconia regional specialties. Crispy Schauferla, pork sausages, Franconia Sauerbraten, Bamberger Krenfleisch (beef in horse-radish sauce), etc.

Bamberg is famous for beer, in particular, smoke beer. We have two to try and compare. One from the brewery Special and the Schlenkerla Rauchbier . Of course we have a lager, Ungespundets (a U) and Wheat beer.

The wine drinkers will also find something here. We serve wines of the Wine Cellars of Wurzburg , both by the glass , as well as Bocksbeutel.
