Lovely family-run restaurant with lighter fare than most of the places in Boppard. And the building is so cool! highly recommended.

Fondels Muhle was recommended to me by my Airbnb host. On my last (rainy) night in Boppard, I was able to get a table for dinner. From the beginning, everyone was very friendly and attentive. Lea was my waitress for the evening and may I...say, the cutest waitress I have ever met. She was smiling and laughing the entire time. The food was excellent and so were the 4 glasses of wine I had. Kudos to the chef for having the perfect sear on the steak. I had it medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. Very much enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and service. I met another waiter as well as Esmeraldo himself and had grappa together. Fondels Muhle was only the second former flour mill turned restaurant that I have been to (the first was Stari Mlini in Montenegro) and it was fantastic! I highly recommend anyone passing by Boppard to stop by here for dinner. I look forward to coming back to the beautiful town of Boppard and eating at Fondels Muhle again!More

Very tasty food and superfriendly service! Mushroomsoup was the best ever. Nice and cosy surroundings.

We booked to eat here on reading on-line reviews not realising it was fish week which wasn’t necessarily what we would’ve chosen. The ambience is beautiful - set, as it is, in an old mill with the workings exposed. The staff were charming but the...speed of service was very very slow. We’d booked for 7.30 and didn’t get our starters until gone 9. Then they got in a muddle, serving us salads before the starters and then trying to serve the mains before the starters too! We were sure our main courses had been kept warm after that. The food, when it arrived, was so-so.More

We had a wonderful meal at Fondel’s Muhle. We ate outside in the courtyard, but saw the old watermill works inside as that is where the toilets are located. Food is a fresh and lighter take on German style cooking rather than the typical heaviness...of the classic dishes. Menu appears to change frequently. Very friendly staff speaks perfect English. Access may be difficult for mobility impaired. Recommend.More

Wow, this is a lovely place to eat - the food is very good - it’s served creatively - wine is reasonable- the surroundings is what the Germans call rustic - it’s a must. Don’t be put off by the outside as at present there...is building work on the railway bridge - step inside and it’s another world. Leave room for dessert.👍More

Highly recommended place to eat in Boppard. Fun menu, good vegetarian options, nice wines and friendly staff. The building is over 200 years old, great ambiance both inside and outside.

Really poor quality and limited choice in menu . Located far from the central part and kitchen is closed already at 21:00 on Saturday evening

Saw this place recommended so on Sunday went to book a table for Tuesday. The lovely waitress said they were usually closed on Sundays but as it was Mothering Sunday they were open but would close instead on Tuesdays. The place was full but she...found us a table. She translated the menu and we had an excellent meal. The railway line runs right past the window but despite this we would definitely recommend this place.More

This lovely restaurant in an old mill is several small rooms on different levels, cosy and warm with good service and excellent food - innovative starter and beef cooked rare and tasty - puddings delicious - worth walking to find it although in Boppard needs...a little effort with is rewarded - good wine list tooMore
