We were heading to Altamont gardens and decided to have lunch in the forge on route. We hadn't been in years but had positive experiences in the past and were very much looking forward to it. There were 2 adults and 3 kids and we arrived just before 12 and were told cooked dinners weren't ready until 12.15....fair enough so... More

Went here for Sunday lunch. Lovely homely place with friendly helpful staff. Both our meals were excellent, arrived piping hot with plenty of meat and fresh veg and potatoes. I had the lamb which was beautiful and the home made mint sauce was really lovely. Would really recommend this place for an enjoyble meal and we will definitely be calling... More

Stopped here for lunch having visited the Altamont gardens & cafe. It was recommended by the lovely girl in the cafe. Good lunch then went to pay & happened to mention we'd been in Leitrim week before. Turns out that the proprietor used to work with our Best Woman's cousin back in the day. Such a coincidence or... only in... More

Popped in for lunch with my wife and baby and had great service and lovely home cooked roast pork and chicken. Both were tender and tasty and portion sizes were decent. We had apple crumble and apple tart for desert both of which were clearly home made. They also have great coffee and it was very good value

As a motorcycle touring group, we are always looking for good places to eat where there is also good, secure parking. Mary and her staff always makes us feel really welcome and the parking out the back is great with loads of space. The food is always top quality and service is excellent and friendly. If we have a large... More

We were visiting Altamont Gardens where the cafe was closed but there was a sign directing us to The Forge. We popped in for a sandwich but ended up having dinner instead. We couldn't resist the big bowl of steaming potatoes we had spotted on another table. We both ordered the roast pork which came stuffed with beautifully cooked vegetables... More

This is a home away from home. Breakfast, scones, main course lunches and sandwiches - traditional fare done well. Relaxed, homely atmosphere. Staff are pleasant and service is attentive and personal. We call in here after our annual visit to Altamont Gardens. This year we barely made it before closing time (late afternoon) but we weren't rushed.

Our restaurant is a casual place in which to get honest food in a warm and welcoming setting. Lunch is served from 12:30 every day Tuesday - Sunday. From 10:30am onwards our traditional Irish scones are fresh out of the oven - along with our fresh tarts and other diet crushing desserts. We have a strong association with the local farming community and are committed to local suppliers for meat, dairy, fruit, vegetable and other produce. All are welcome & we are wheelchair accessible. Looking forward to welcoming you and yours to The Forge.
