I went up for a Sunday lunch after hearing recommendations from countless people about the roasts. I had the turkey roast which came with all the trimmings, the roast potatoes were AMAZING! They were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. I hadn't...More

Upon arrival we headed to the bar where we were greeted and served almost instantly, by a charming man. We were then shown to a table and informed of the specials of the day. We all only had a few light bites but couldn't fault...More

I have never complained anywhere before and never written a review! We live locally (VERY locally) and have been visiting and eating here for 30 years. Ok, the old menu was a bit dated and never changed but there was enormous choice and everything tasted...More

Visited the pub on 10th June and found service friendly and very good. Chose to order some food and both mine and my girlfriends meals were excellent and both home cooked. Excellent place, great food and service. Would definitely recommend.

My wife and I had a meal here one evening this week. The staff were sullen, surly and curt and the food revolting. I had the sea bass, which comprised two miniscule pieces of grossly over-cooked fish sitting on a pile of squashed new potatoes...More

Description
Now re-opened following extensive renovations. We have extended and developed a lovely bar and restaurant with open log fires and an intimate and cosy atmosphere which is ideal for informal eating and drinking. The new décor, lighting and the mixture of solid oak flooring, stone slabs and carpeted areas gives a friendly homely feel. The ever popular conservatory has been refurbished and is now more integrated with the bar area. We have also created 'The Wardroom' which offers a more intimate dining room for private parties and for our guests. Upstairs, the elegant landing has been sympathetically redecorated, whilst all the rooms have been extensively refurbished, some of the bedrooms have also been re-configured to create individually styled but contemporary suites, family rooms and double rooms. The changes do not stop with the building. A new Spring Menu features freshly prepared dishes, from pub favourites through to new creations reflecting contemporary English cuisine. As before, there is an extensive vegetarian selection and of course a specials board which changes daily. To go with this is a new Wine List (with over a dozen available by the glass), created by Tanners Independent Wine Merchants, local ales from Otter Brewery, as well as a leading range of other draught lagers and cider. Outside, there is a large beer garden with lovely views of the estuary, along with plenty of car parking.
