Went there with my husband at Sunday, a local very different from the others! Knödel in every possible variations!
Great service, great food and teichalm is close by for a little walk after good food!

We ate here three times in the first week of February this year (and three times in the same week last year too - a colleague recommended it). It's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so the fact that we went there three evenings out of five each week says something about the food here!
We were a party of seven, including three children, and tried very many items on the menu.
Salads, soups, savoury dumplings, sweet dumplings. All were excellent. (My overall favourite were the apple dumplings - really spectacular!)
The quality of the food, the presentation and the friendly service combined to make it a wonderful visit every time.
I'm English and know that the word dumpling strikes fear into an Englishman's heart!
Have no fear - the dumplings here are spectacularly good.
Bonus - they don't serve fizzy drinks. Carafes of tap water are provided. Quality juices from a local producer.
Good wines as well (the Zweigelt was very good).
If you're in the area, I highly recommend a visit to Knödelzeit.
(Note: The location on the map on tripadvsior is incorrect. Knödelzeit is in Passail, not Semriach).

Only about 45 minutes by car from Graz, in Passail in the beautiful alpine country, truly extraordinary things are opening up for culinary-savvy connoisseurs: the wonderfully refined and tastefully outstanding surprise menu in the restaurant “Der Schrenk”!
What is written on the homepage becomes a promise, a culinary reality: “Our chef and his team conjure exceptional dishes with great attention to detail that will enchant your taste buds.”
Tasteful, unexpected, but excellently balanced, palate-flattering combinations, beautifully creatively arranged, great atmosphere in the former estate and warm hosts – culinary heart what more could you want?
So what was the surprise menu for regionality and seasonality?

The ingredients, mainly from the mom’s garden and surrounding farms, were perfectly blended, aptly seasoned and triggered true taste explosions on the palate in their ingenious combinations. In addition, they were beautifully and imaginatively arranged – the eye is also known to eat. The really attentive, courteous and friendly staff and the excellent wine accompaniment skillfully completed the experience.
And: absolutely fair and justifiable pricing compared to other similar multicourse menus of this kind. The price-performance ratio is actually sensational for what is on offer, because the quality of the ingredients and the preparation is really important here - we were delighted and more than satisfied.
Afterwards there were really cool cocktails, which are prepared individually at the taste of the guests and in between even a coffee tasting by and with the graduate bartender and barrister Patrick Stermole, as well as a tour of the restaurant and the estate and the excellently assorted wine shop with the chef and mastermind Dominik Pucher.
From us an absolute Recommendation: “The Gift Shop” is definitely worth a visit. We will be back – even the lunch menus and the inn dishes on the well-stocked menu or other cocktails still want to be tasted. And a look at the homepage is also worthwhile regarding the calendar of events.
Oh yes, free parking directly at the restaurant or accommodation in the village are available (the innkeepers are also happy to advise on this).
