Brilliant food, new owners are pleasant, nice to hear the pub is been tiered up next year. For us the best thing about the pub was Nicci (from Liverpool) and Sam behind the bar. We were there for a week in most days and these...More

We arrived to find the restaurant booked out but decided to have a drink anyway. The staff were very friendly and in the end a table became available and they ensured we got it (as there was a steady stream of more visitors). The food...More

Arrived too late for lunch - but a bonus for us, dogs allowed after 2pm. Great pint, well kept, wife's latte made very well and bar person was lively and friendly. Interior is a bit worn but the welcome makes up for it - great...More

The food is really good, the service is great and pretty quick. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful with allergens. There isn't a great deal of choice for gluten-free puds, the mains are great.

The title says it all! We ate here 2 out of our 3 nights in Braithwaite and the food, service and value for money were brilliant. Great home cooked food and available in smaller portion sizes too...so you can keep room for dessert!

Based on its Management, (not food or beer quality). The Royal Oak has gone seriously downhill since my last visit in regards to its poor service standards, i.e. The New Management were extremely rude to my wife and one of the male bar staff was...More

We found this lovely place after a long search of restaurants in the area. All others were "full" or accepting bookings only. We were given a fantastic welcome and made to feel at home. The service was first class and all staff were extremely friendly....More

Hiya, cananyone please expand on the Dog issue/food? We're motorhoming nearby just before Easter and we're looking at walking the mile or so to this Pub with our Border Collie. Tonight (Friday 28th March 2015) we've eaten in Keswick at a Dog friendly Pub (early evening). There were three Dogs in the establishment, all well behaved and very unintrusive. To be fair, the affection between our Border Collie and a young Labrador had complete strangers talking to one another in seconds thus creating a lovely friendly atmosphere. No Dogs were sniffing directly at anybody's meals but obviously, like humans they like the smell of food What's the policy at The Farmers Arms? I appreciate not everyone is a Dog lover but they offer no hygienic risk by simply sitting in a Pub breathing in and out and maybe raising their head when a new fresh food smell is served up. It's common knowledge that humans have the capacity to carry and indeed pass on a far greater amount of germs or infections than Dogs/animals. We can catch nits off humans but not fleas off Dogs for example. If a Dog was sniffing directly up to diners plates then that's a different story but the owner is surely at fault. Or is it the fact that a Dog is simply in the Pub when food is being served? I've caught more germs off perspiring, unwashed walkers who take off their walking boots and stink the place out.
