Having spent a long day in the hills we stopped at the Royal Oak for a couple of well earned pints on our way back to Scotgate caravan park. The open coal fire was a welcoming site and great for our two pooches to chill out whilst we consumed a couple of pints of Jennings. The only downside was we... More

As chance would have it we ended up spending New Years Eve hear with 6 other friends. What a fantastic night, unfortunately we couldn't get any food as we hadn't booked,, but the drink flowed nicely. Amazing fire works display, and the new land lady couldn't be more attentive and accommodating. amazing what she pulled off to say she only... More

We were staying in the local village over new year. Food was average and service could have been more welcoming. However good place for a few afternoon drinks and watch the sport! New Year's Eve fireworks amazing!!

My friends and I had decided to eat here following the completion of a number of Wainwrights. On the whole we were impressed. A good range of beers, decent prices and very good food. I would recommend the Cumberland Sausage with mash, vegetables and gravy. When next in the area it is highly likely that I would eat here again.

What a busy place, the food is excellent and the service was good. The only downfall it was soo packed that it got too hot as its only small .. But apart from that we would go again ..

The Royal Oak is at the very centre of the village of Braithwaite which is one of the loveliest villages I have visited in the Lakes. It sits in the middle of so many great walks that you are spoilt for choice. Your sure of a warm and friendly welcome when you visit this Inn. The managers, Joe and Caroline,... More

Annual visit to Braithwaite and so pleased that the Royal Oak continues to be a really good location for good pub food of plentiful proportions! Cosy sat by the fire and friendly atmosphere.

We ate here on two occasions on a long weekend trip. Prompt device, attentive staff, tasty home cooked food, good sized portions for the hungry hill walker and very reasonably priced.

The Royal Oak is a good village pub offering pub grub with very large portions plus a good choice of real ale. Had the battered fish and chips times two but too much for us to finish. Bottle of wine reasonably priced. Decor looked tired and staff did all they needed to although one could tell the locals from the... More
