Dog friendly pub, tasty food and comfortable ambiance only marred by a crotchety old regular customer brandishing his walking stick at our dogs. Worth a visit, take your own stick.

Walking through the South Downs Way, this is an excellent place to spend the night. The service is extra friendly and helpful. Good menu for lunch and dinner. East Meon is small and quiet. Easy to relax here.

My husband and I and two friends had dinner at the George on Monday, once again the food and service were extremely good, it was a fairly quiet night being a Monday but the atmosphere was still good and most friendly, especially from the Barman/Manager.

We visited as a group of 12 adults plus a few children under 5 including high chairs on Easter Monday. When we arrived we were pointed towards a few tables next to each other but didn't really appear to be as a group, there weren't any high chairs at the table and when I enquired the response was 'they're around'... Not a warm and friendly welcome at all. Bar staff surly, waiting staff with faces like thunder. Thought I'd walked in to a filming of Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares I'd give this a miss until they cheer up a bit, A real shame - as the setting is beautiful, car parking ok, menu looked inventive. Vegetarian friendly? They'll find something... More

Stayed over in this lovely village on a Friday night on the way to Winchester by foot. Basic but clean twin room was more than sufficient for our needs. Very nice pub grub for dinner, good beer and lovely staff. Brilliant Full English for breakfast. Staff were very helpful in returning my phone charger later in the week.

A group of 7 of us walked past this pub on the way through East Meon and popped in as the campsite owner had mentioned it. Beautiful looking rustic pub, and just as nice inside. However when we came in we were made to wait at the bar for a full 10 minutes without any signs of the staff making... More

Had a family meal there last weekend. All the staff were friendly and efficient and very helpful. The food was excellent and the pub is lovely inside; has a great atmosphere. Will definitely visit again.

Had a family evening meal here and from start to finish it could not have been better. The character of the Inn was welcoming and we all had drinks in the bar sat round a large table. We had thought of eating in the lovely dining room but decided to stay and eat at the same table as the bar... More
