Visited on a Tuesday night, called before visit to ask if they had a mixed grill on the menu (silly Atkins diet so only thing I could eat) told me it wasn't on the menu but they would happily cook me one! Lovely warm welcome, lovely food and brilliant service! Even made our dog feel welcome! Thank you very much... More

Had a lovely evening here during our recent trip to the UK. the goat's cheese parcel was to die for and the steak and ale pie was superb. Friendly and approachable service and was impressed by the fact the head chef was mingling and asking for feedback - this shows a real attention to detail and that she cares what... More

We found this place by chance off the A66. Beautiful location for lunch! We were given a really warm greeting. Extra logs placed on the open fire for us! We ordered steak and ale pies and chips and we were not disappointed. Huge portions, really tasty and to the table in 20 minutes tops. Great find! Will definitely return if... More

Recently popped in post a day of walking. Greeted by a very welcoming host who proceeded to serve the best beef short rib I have eaten in a long time! A recommendation for anyone in the area. 👌🏼

.... you know, the type where you walk in and the whole place goes quiet as everyone swivels around to stare at you. Not now! A typical friendly West Cumbrian pub, good food, excellent beers and friendly staff And in a lovely quiet spot and village

We were staying 1 night in the area and wanted a place close to our B and B as we had our 4 year old boy with us. This place turned out to be a little gem. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and could not do enough for us - especially our little boy. We ordered pizza for... More

Such a pleasure to find a rural pub open on a Friday lunchtime which not only welcomes dogs but has charming and energetic staff! Ideally located close to Setmurthy Woods which provide plenty of exercise for our four legged friends as well as those on two wheels. We both had fish and chips with mushy peas which were served promptly... More
