This rather old fashioned, dusty pub has a great atmosphere, a bit like a French roadside cafe ! The staff are friendly if blunt, and the food is superb. The staff do a lot for local charities, and though I have never been there in the evening I understand it is always busy. We plan to go more often, for... More

As said, proper pub, has atmosphere and conviviality, food good, haven't been in this pub for 20 years, has got better, toilets outside are clean, beer is good, in short a proper pub, don't dress up just tip up and enjoy, best pub for miles, Kernow lad

Excellent meal - we'll definitely be going back again. Potential customers shouldn't be put off by the 'shabby' appearance of the premises. The quality of the food certainly makes a visit worthwhile

Roaring open fire, welcoming staff & landlord, tried to eat there on a Sunday but it was packed but persisted & returned, so glad we did. It was busy on Sunday for good reason. Food & drink was excellent

What a find this was! Old, quaint, noisy (customers mostly local chatting and laughing) and friendly. Big log fire burning, best gin and tonic I've had by far, with local gin, and a really delicious steak baguette. Everyone was friendly, menu was pretty comprehensive and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The other half had a burger which looked really good, he... More

We drive through this way on the way back from Fowey frequently but didn't realise this great little pub was just off the A38. This is indeed what all pubs should be like - crazy rough and ready decor which has a very modern feel to it, great barman and of course amazing food. As soon as we walked in... More

Given her other reviews, she obviously has experience of checking on possible eating choices before a first visit to anywhere. She could not have failed to know the character, strengths and specialities of the R&L. Why drive out here in search of minority options or expecting an extended cafeteria menu? Does she really think that authentic or even commonplace chilli... More

We called in on a Saturday lunchtime and luckily they had one small table free. I would suggest you book ahead as this is a very small and popular place. There was a roaring fire which was lovely on a cold February day. We ordered drinks and chose from the blackboard menu. There was a lot o choose from if... More
