We have visited this pub over the last 5 years when staying in the area. They served a god selection of beers and good pub food. We visited on 7 April 2017 and found it closed. Later I rang the number and the lady who answered said they had retired and were closed permanently. It would help if the website... More

We were staying on holiday locally last week and visited the pub for an evening meal and Sunday lunch based on previous Tripadvisor reviews - we were not disappointed. The landlady (Liz) was welcoming and the food was delicious. The menue is not vast (which was promising) and the pie and mash we opted for was delicious .Locals were very... More

Staying just down the road we popped in for our first evening meal in Wales. We got a very warm welcome and even though the menu is limited they had some gorgeous sounding specials, the food was brilliant and seeing as my daughter ate all hers that is normally a good sign. If you are in the area seek this... More

This place deserves more customers! Having been to The Goat Inn the previous evening we can concur that Cross Foxes's food was superior AND it was cheaper.

We visited the Cross Foxes twice in our short stay in Wales. The food was excellent as was the beer. The land lady was very friendly and helpfull although I wonder if she would forgive me for calling her pub the Cross Keys.. Yes we had two enjoyable evenings thanks to her and her customers.

Called in here for lunch (not planned) on way home from Tenby. We just needed a rest and some food.Discovered a gem of a restaurant, interesting menu ( I had Venison Goulash-very good) and a quite brilliant wine list - not all your usual stuff. A lot of not well known wines from some of the better of the smaller wine regions.... More

We found the Cross Foxes on line 3 years ago and have been there for the last 3 years during our annual holiday in the Porthmadog area. You may need a map to find the village and the pub just off the A487 Caernarfon Porthmadog road, but it is well worth a visit. The couple who run it are very... More

An old-fashioned looking pub, but a great welcome, and traditional food at sensible prices. The atmosphere and the quality of the grub made for an excellent meal as part of our North Wales holiday.

This is truly a locals' place, off the beaten track, but no so local-focused that there is not a welcome for any passers-by. The atmosphere was thick with the beauty of Wales, with conversations going on around in both the melodic Welsh language and our harsher English tongue. On entering, you can truly tell you are in a friendly place.... More

Came across the name of this pub last year whilst searching for places to eat around Porthmadog. Visiting again this year and the food was just as good if not better. My 10 year old managed to finish off his steak and chips (adult portion!) which tasted superb as I had the same and it filled me up! The home... More
