We have eaten here many times as a family with our grandson, great welcome, nice staff, a cosy and warm bar restaurant - there are always daily specials, I like that in a restaurant because it generally means food is freshly cooked on the day. Never had a bad meal, good value and friendly, well worth a visit.

This bar/ restaurant is worth a visit for the amazing views and the cosy and historic interior. We dropped in after a walk and had soup which was home-made and delicious. Staff friendly and service good. A lovely place to sit and chat and relax before moving on.

My girlfriend and I went in to The Speckled Door after walking on the beach just down the road. We were greeted on arrival by the barman and he came out, sat us to a table and handed us menus while informing of specials. The food was delievered by a very pleasant waitress. Food was good, nothing special. I did... More

The Speckled Door is a pleasant looking pub / restaurant but we found the food to be very average and below-average in some respects. The chips were hard and T-bone steak (ordered sirloin!!) was not cooked as requested. Extremely lumpy mashed potatoes and generally actually quite expensive for what we got. Its a pity. I would come back for a... More

Bar man downright rude. Made feel most unwelcome when wanting drink and rest out of rain. We sat in bar, but restaurant looked busier. There might have been a better atmosphere in there.

We dropped in for Lunch last Tuesday and had a very pleasant experience. We both had Plaice and desert and the both were wonderful -- simply done but excellent and very good value.

The Speckled Door is convenient to Rivermount B&B. We went only for drinks and did not have a meal. On a waiter's recommendation we tried some Irish Mist (with honey) and enjoyed it immensely in the setting of The Speckled Door. Service was fine. There is a small carpark nearby. Look for it if you don't see it. I failed... More

I went here with some friends. Half of the menu was unavailable and service was a bit poor, though it was the busiest day of the year and they apologized several times.
