I was amazed at the food in this place - I used to live in Carrick-on-Shannon, many years ago, and couldn't quite equate the beautifully-presented and adventurous cuisine before me with what I had known here 18 years previously. Still, that's progress. Attentive and friendly service allied with a broad and exciting menu, beautifully cooked and presented, made this one... More

The Oarsman markets itself as a Gastro Pub and is very centrally located in Carrick on Shannon. We ate there on a Friday evening in February. We had made a booking a week in advance and were glad we had done so as the place seemed very popular. The tables are large and well-spaced the pub has a cosy feel... More

Had a table booked for St Patricks Day, we waited over an hour for our food, was told that they weren't expecting such a crowd??.... When food arrived the portions were all different, had to keep asking for water, chicken wings were brought out but no finger bowls, then at the end of the meal coffee was brought out less... More

I always enjoy a trip to the Oarsman in Carrick on Shannon for lunch or an evening meal. The food is consistently good and the Friday night live entertainment is brilliant. Excellent staff led by Jacinta make the whole experience top notch.

Absolutely stunning food. Excellent service. Waiter and waitress were extremely professional, friendly and kind. Myself and my friend both went for their value meal. It was exactly that, a three course meal for less than thirty euro each that was just delicious and excellently presented. They also had a birthday plate ready for my friend and sang happy birthday to... More

Booked a table via their website, easy. Booking was confirmed by email. Lovely table reserved for us by the fire. Food was beautifully presented and delicious. Staff friendly and attentive. Wonderful night. Also if you order a pot of tea, the teapots DONT leak as you pour the tea.

Best restaurant in Carrick on Shannon. A genuine Oldie worldy interior covering 2 floors. Always busy so it would be advisable to pre-book. (Tip - if they tell you they are full say you dont mind being served at the bar). Actively managed by family owners who often appear at the table. When we visited they had at least 2... More

The food was great the chicken wings starter was the best I've tasted. The beetroot soup was also excellent . I had the fish of the day as mains and couldn't fault it. The Choclate brownie for dessert was also amazing. Unfortunately the boiler was broken on the evening we visited and the place was quite cold, these things happen... More
