Located in a charming cottage the service in the restaurant was low key and very friendly. The menu notes that everyone must order a main dish so there are no split plates or ordering a couple of dishes from the starter menu. Had a perfectly cooked delicious steak with fries others at the table had fish and chicken dishes equally enjoyed. The kitchen is small so the dishes are served at a leisurely pace. The desserts looked yummy as they were delivered to an adjacent table but alas we were to full to enjoy. The wine list was well priced for either a glass or bottle. The cottage is located in the town of Adare very close to the Adare manor town gate so it can easily be reached from the manor by short walk or a car offered by the Manor

Dined here with family on a Saturday night and cannot recommend it enough. The welcome was warm, the food was great (oysters, scampi, short rib, chicken, sole and cod) but most of all was the very visible hands on approach from the owners Wade and Elaine. Thank you for making my 1st visit to 1826 so memorable for all the right reasons!

A charming place in a beautiful town. The menu is very complete, the service is very correct, the cuisine is spectacular… to put it a little bit, but they only offered service after 4:00 p.m. Reasonable price. I recommend it.

We looked forward to trying 1826 after receiving a gift voucher, despite hearing the place wasn’t keen on serving vegan / vegetarian diners .
The restaurant is beautifully decorated , lovely & bright & fresh.
The serving staff were professional & friendly .
Our starter was a salad of lettuce onion & tomato, with a few white beans . The dressing was good.
Our main course was a variation of spaghetti Napoli The garnish was beautiful , we could have eaten a plate of it , fabulous flavour !! But the spaghetti was overcooked and soft , I couldn’t finish it .
The food was a let down . One dines out and hopes for better than was we cook at home but unfortunately the main was almost canteen standard .
We have sorbet for dessert which was fine.
The presentation was lovely . Surprisingly for a fine dining restaurant they serve Red, white & Rose wines in the same type of wine glass .
There is an opportunity for 1826 to impress vegetarians & vegans visiting Adare since the fabulous Wild Geese restaurant closed .
The skill is certainly within 1826 but it seems the passion is reserved for meat & fish eaters .
The ingredients for the vegetarian option ( just one !) were basic & inexpensive , so there was little value for money . Each starter was around €13, each main was €26.50 & the Sorbet was around €7.
I see potential for this restaurant to channel the passion into non meat options & to create inviting and imaginative vegetable dishes

Despite informing the restaurant one of us was vegetarian the only option available was vegan ( I’m well aware vegetarians can eat vegan) but it’s not the same and different flavors involved
There was no vegetarian option available and even asked if the pasta could be regular pasta
Was told no it was vegan also asked for vegetarian option and there was none available
No other option available on the menu
Very disappointed
It was our anniversary and was left hungry and dissatisfied

I really wanted to like this restaurant. It’s in a thatched cottage and is very charming. Sadly, while the food was okay, the maitre’d ( I assume that is what he was) was condescending and somewhat rude. We ordered two starters and a main dish to share. The waitress seemed fine with our order. A few minutes later, he came back to our table and said the main dish would be too hard for us to share because “ it comes in a bowl”. It was pasta. We said we thought we’d manage and he gave us a dirty look and walked off. A bus boy brought us an extra plate and we managed. Not the experience we had hoped for.

Disappointing. Very rushed. Untrained wait staff, intrusive, hovering, doing laps of the room. Staring constantly. Food: tiny crab starter. Big fuss when I asked for no mushrooms in bento box” we dont usually do this”,reiterated in the kitchen & I could hear it!!we have been a few times but Elaine didnt acknowledge. The set menu is good value. The waiter pushed us repeatedly to order sides& more wine& took plates& cups too soon from the table.
We will not be back,it was more relaxed in the past.

Let me start by saying we had reservations for over 6 months before our trip to Ireland and correspondence with restaurant was friendly and efficient. We had very high expectations and the food absolutely met them. However, from the moment we were seated we felt rushed. We ordered drinks and before they came were asked if we wanted wine with dinner and hadn't decided on dinner yet! Once we ordered dinner, the wait staff wanted to pour the wine, and we asked her to wait. Once a sip of wine was taken, they tried to refill your glass and the waitstaff kind of patrolled the dining room. Both waitresses were operating like this. They were young and probably inexperienced, but someone is training them, so I'm not sure they weren't told to behave this way. Just overall the service felt very rushed and not welcoming. It's really too bad because the food was excellent, but in retrospect all we can focus on is the service.

Was really looking forward to going after reading reviews.
We went to pub afterwards to get a toasted sandwich the portions were so small.
Korean chicken wasnt cooked through and is more like roast chicken legs with a sweet sauce.
The steak was small less than an inch thick and very fatty. 35 euros.
I got 1 slice of black pudding for starter and my partner had scampi which was very chewy.
Overall it was very bad and it cost over 100 Euro. 1 gin and tonic incl no deserts.
Maybe we were too early amd it was a young chef but very surprised nothing was good.
Staff and the place were lovely so a real shame. First time i never left a tip but felt a bit ripped off.

We had a gorgeous dinner here for my wife’s birthday. Starters - Crab tartlet which was divine and monkfish scampi was very tasty. Cod and Halibut for mains, both fantastic. We finished it off with a dark chocolate delice - scrummy. We had tea, coffee and a lovely bottle of organic wine. The staff and service were great. 5 out of 5 from both of us. Thank you!

Very disappointed again. Staff seemed unsure and we were left waiting. Food was mediocre and very over priced. Over salted and had the taste of food prepared earlier and kept warm or reheated. It’s our 7th time since it opened and only once was it good.

My fiance and I had the pleasure of dining at 1826 and we cant stop talking about how much we love this restaurant. For starters we had the beer battered monkfish scampi, heirloom tomato & mozzarella and for entrees we both had the braised short rib. We finished our meal with the chocolate and walnut tart & eton mess.
The tomato & mozz was SO fresh, the garlic chive aioli that the fish came with was so delicious and my goodness that braised short rib was the best i've ever had. It was cooked to absolute perfection and the sauce that it came with was SO rich and flavorful. I mean this meat was ridiculously tender, WOW! For dessert, the chocolate and walnut tart is a MUST have! The texture, the flavor and the ice cream were all spot on. Not too sweet and not bland at all, just perfect! I want some now just thinking about it.
Lastly i cant end this review without mentioning the ambiance and customer service. The combination of the old cottage esthetic mixed with the warmth of the staff, was the cherry on top! They were so friendly and made us feel super welcomed the second we stepped foot in the place. We took the 25 minute trip from city centre Limerick for this meal and it was well worth it! Cant wait to come back <3

Visited here this week. The place showed great adherence to current guidelines. Staff member Caroline was friendly and excellent in her role.
I will question, however, their exorbitant prices. Starters approx €11. Sirloin steak (small) was €34 and only served with a teaspoon of caramelise onion and chips and sauce. Vegetables were an additional €4 per portion. Requested steak medium to rare but it was overdone on the outside and very dry. Halibut dish was €34 also and chicken dish €25.
Whilst I appreciate restaurants have come through difficult times so have their patrons and prices such as these will not encourage business. There is nothing special to warrant these prices. I ordered regular water but it was tasteless and not served chilled. I live reasonably local but with these prices I don't think I can afford to go back
