We ate here all three days we stayed in Lisdoonvarna. The food and the beer thats brewed onsite was fantastic as was the service. The friendly staff add so much to this place as do the locals. Also for sport and food next door the Storehouse is excellent (same owner). I would give The Roadside Tavern the highest recommondation to... More

Recommended by a local after our visiting the Cliffs of Moher. Our group of 9 was welcomed and well cared for. I can recommend the smoked salmon. We couldn't stay late for the scheduled musicians but other guests eating were singing and playing instruments. It was lovely. Easy enough to find.

We had a family lunch here on Easter Sunday and without exception, everyone was delighted with their meal. The smoked salmon from the smokehouse down the road is excellent, and featured throughout their menu. The only reason for docking a mark was that, while they clearly state that they do not do split bills (which I fully understand), they would... More

This is a pub, indead, but the food from Kieran's Kitchen is excellent. It offers nothing but food cooked with products from the Burren or nearby. We had salmon, mussels, paté, stew. All very good. And afterwards the best traditional music we heard this trip!

Forgot it was Mother's Day but called on spec and we both had an absolutely fabulous meal with excellent service and recommendations. Dessert was recommended and we couldn't resist and boy were we glad - the lemon tart was gorgeous. As always the service was second to none (thanks Catherine and Geena). Highly recommended.

In spring 2011, Peter Curtin embarked on a new
endeavour: He set up the Burren Brewery in the Roadside Tavern in Lisdoonvarna. The building, which in 1865 started off as a pub, then was expanded into a bakery, now also harbours a micro-brewery under its roof. At the same time it is an eatery and a renowned music venue for traditional and contemporary music. Peter realised very quickly how complicated and time-consuming it was to brew his own beer - it really is a labour of love. He enrolled the help of a Master Brewer, and the result can now be tasted in the Roadside Tavern: The Burren Gold is a delicious, characterful lager. The mainstream lagers available every-where just cannot compete with this one!The Burren Red with its great red colour is a spicy, slightly sweet ale which even features a hint of smoke. It seems to become the favourite among the punters at the Roadside! The Burren Black is a stout that does not have to fear the competition of a certain other black stuff. It is smooth and full-bodied, with a creamy crown of froth on top - and definitely alive inside! A heavenly drink.
