Stopped here after visiting Santa @ Alliwee with our 2 kids. Myself & my husband both had the chicken & mushroom sauce which was absolutely freezing on arrival & a very small portion to boot. At no stage did anyone ask was everything ok as we would have told them, instead we had to get the waitress's attention to clear... More

I'd forgotten how quiet Ballyvaughan gets during November so was surprised to find Hyland's to be the only place open for dinner midweek. I do like the bar area which is a fun place to have a few pints. Unfortunately the food didn't match up. The menu is limited and expensive for what you get. The food itself was pretty... More

I ate here on two of my three days in the village of Ballyvaughan, co. Clare. I had the Lamb Shank both evenings. Much better than the lamb I get in Chicago! The wait staff of James and Thomas were great. They greeted me each day, and looked after my needs. I had lunch here on all three days of... More

Soup was delicious. The fish and chips was really excellent as was the burger. The open crab was very disappointing. The Guinness bread on which the crab was served was so overpowering that the subtle taste of the crab was completely lost. The kids menu was the usual disappointing fare that kids generally get treated to in this country. The... More

Had an extremely delicious dinner with excellent staff service, went back the following day for lunch which was very disappointing, stood around for quite a while waiting for the girl behind the bar to acknowledge we were there, when she eventally did we were told we could sit where we wanted and then had the menus thrown across the table... First night dinner was a great experience at Hylands Burren Restaurant. Traditional pub food, friendly atmosphere and of course Guinness! Lamb Shank and Fish and Chips with 2 pints of Guinness for $36 euros seemed that a good deal!

We needed someplace to eat lunch and this looked as good as any in Ballyvaughan. We ordered sandwiches and while it was not very busy, it took about 15 min for them to arrive. Service was ok and the seats were nice.

Second time visiting here and came back especially for the chowder..Has to be one of the best Chowders that I have tasted, along with the lovely home made bread.

I stayed here and ate at the hotel. I had the sirloin steak and it seemed tainted, like it was past its expiration date. The Irish breakfast and buffet were very good, however.

We both had the seafood chowder that was brimming with seafood. Delicious! The staff were friendly and although it was a Sunday night, there were quite a few locals in.
