The unassuming exterior belies the lid gem of a pub/ restaurant. Both service and food presentation served was outstanding as always. Six of us dined on the a la carte menu on a Thursday- complimentary focaccia served with marmite butter , we all enjoyed our mains , hake and lamb served pink no room for pudding . I particularly enjoyed an exceptional Viognier wine at a reasonable price Only one complaint … I wish it was my local :-) Many thanks and definitely hope to visit again soon

We had an excellent pub lunch that really was a cut above. We walked along the canal from Brecon theatre and found this restaurant on the internet when we wanted some lunch. There were good veggie options, which suited one of my friends, but I had the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. The bread and tartare sauce were homemade (bread while waiting for meal). Very friendly, relaxed atmosphere. We were worried we would be too late as we got there just before 2, but it was fine.
The meal turned a pleasant walk into a lovely afternoon out.

Unreal! From start to finish everything about the place is SO lovely. We had our dinner in one of their beach huts which was perfect (the restaurant had a lovely feel when we went through too) it was well heated in the hut and they kept on checking if we needed anything. The food was INCREDIBLE 10/10 by far the best food we’ve had in a while. We will definitely be returning when we next visit Brecon.

We dined at the Three Horseshoes during our recent holiday in the area.
We phoned to book a table at pretty short notice. They could only offer us one of the beach huts however that suited us to a tee - private dining with gorgeous views across to Pen y Fan on a gorgeous sunny evening was just perfect :-)
Service was friendly and the food was delicious and well presented. On checking the bill afterwards we found that my glass of rosé wine was rather expensive however I should've asked to see the wine list before ordering!

Booked table well in advance. Easy online booking system. Arrived to a Sunday lunch. Was advised locally where to park in the village’s main road and then walk up the small road 50 yards to the pub. Friendly welcome and shown straight to the table. Attentive friendly staff and orders taken for drinks and food in a timely fashion. Food arrived very quickly and was plentiful and tasty. Not to brag but I like to have a Sunday roast in a restaurant/pub better than I can cook at home, and this one was superb.
Red cabbage, cauliflower cheese, two types of potatoes, shredded green cabbage, roasted root veg and plenty of extra gravy in a separate boat, which is a nice touch. Pork had crackling and beef was tender with Yorkshire puds on both.
Can’t comment on puddings as we were both too full for one, but they looked great on the menu!
We were checked on twice that the everything was ok by two different staff members.
Still very busy at 3pm when they stop serving food on a Sunday, so I would suggest always booking a table in advance, I would imagine “walking up” and expecting a table will leave you disappointed!!

Visited this place on 31 August after a beautiful canal walk and was looking forward to a lovely meal after reading the reviews. On entering my husband ordered a drink and requested a menu. A young waitress standing nearby in an abrupt manner said ‘ you better hurry up as the the kitchen is closing. This was approximately 2.10pm on a Saturday .We looked at the menu but after her abruptness we decided to take our custom elsewhere.I can’t see online where it states that it only serves food at certain times. We will not be returning and will inform our friends.

We called into this quaint pub on a Monday lunchtime en route to a short break in the country. It was very quiet but the staff were friendly and helpful and the menu looked appetising. The chicken and tarragon pie was possibly the best pie and mash I have ever had and my wife’s Cornish fish and triple cooked chips was tasty with perfectly battered fish. An absolute diamond of a find and we will definitely be returning next time we are within half an hour’s drive.

Wow, what an absolute hidden gem this place is… the staff are really friendly, was incredibly clean, an amazing pint of Butty Bach and the food just blew me away. The presentation and taste was just out of this world. There were four of us dining and one had the fish and chips, one had the chicken and mushroom pie and two of us had the pork belly, all four of us were blown away by the quality of the food and especially the complimentary bread with marmite butter.
We will definitely be back and well worth the 1.5 hour drive there..

The Three Horseshoes offers a memorable dining experience, blending delightful culinary offerings with a cosy, picturesque setting. The standout dish, the pie of the day featuring chicken, bacon, and leek, accompanied by exceptionally creamy and flavourful mash, left a lasting impression. The complimentary bread paired with unique marmite butter was equally delicious, adding a savoury kick to the meal. The portions were perfectly sized, satisfying without being overwhelming. While the service was good and the views stunning, the drinks menu featured more big brand names than expected, lacking the local touch some might anticipate. However, this was a minor point in an otherwise excellent dining experience.

Poor experience for a large family get together. 6 Adults & 7 children , and a bill just short of £400 that left us feeling short changed . Very poor attitude to peanut allergy !!! When I asked re peanuts for the complimentary bread the answer was I m not sure …. It should be ok!!! . Not acceptable as we had a child with an allergy and an epipen .
We d booked for 5 pm as as we d had to preorder the food arrived before we had a chance to have 1 drink. Some of the food was cold. We felt rushed . The Duck , monkfish and pork were tasty but an extremely small portion. The attitude of the manager was unacceptable and not apologetic.

Wow! I had cod and my husband had steak, both extremely tasty. Home made focaccia and marmite butter served before our main was delicious. And creme brulee for dessert was divine! Staff worked like a well oiled machine, all friendly and working together. Even the coffee and chocolate to end the meal was perfection. Will return without a doubt. Highly recommend 👌

If only every pub could do food as good as this! A truly exceptional meal: no burger or sticky toffee pudding in sight but a delightful selection of inventive, lovingly prepared dishes to delight from Welsh lamb shoulder ballotine and duck to the BEST fish and chips. AND, in a rare move these days, unctious focaccia bread with whipped marmite butter brought to the table f.o.c!!! Much appreciated.
Gerry, the chef, clearly cares about the food he plates, with locally sourced produce and great care and attention to flavour and presentation. And this care and attention trickles through to the waiting staff who all gave a friendly, excellent service.
Don’t let an unassuming location and restaurant facade put you off: this restaurant offering is British food at its best!

We booked a table at the three horse shoes for a Saturday afternoon due to its close proximity to the caravan and motorhome site. On arrival we had unfortunately not informed them that we were bringing our dog but they kindly relocated us to the bar area which is dog friendly. The staff were friendly and efficient, especially the two young ladies and the young lad. We were given complimentary bread which was a lovely touch. Our mains were stunning, portion size was excellent and quality was amazing. We also had desert which was delicious and well balanced. The restaurant was family friendly, the staff interacted with my 1 year old who was delighted to try venison for the first time. Overall it was a delicious, well priced, high quality meal

Recommended by our AirBnB host and previous guests.
We booked a table which was needed even on a Tuesday evening as they seemed to be fully booked with two sittings at each table.
The food is really good. There were a couple of gluten free options on the menu, but we're happy to adapt the duck pressing starter and pork belly main to be gluten free.
There was a mistake on one of the mains where they brought a second pork belly, instead of the pie. Luckily we didn't mind having that instead, as if not it would have been a half hour wait for a pie to come. Waiter was very apologetic and knocked off one desert from the bill (although we did still get charged the £5 more for the pork than the pie). Mistakes happen and it was dealt with well.
Bill totalled just under £80 - two starters, mains, deserts and drinks, which was reasonable for the quality of food.
It would be nice if there was more than one gluten free desert option.
We might have missed it, but there didn't seem to be any parking - just nab a spot on the road close by.
Would recommend and return if we were in the area again.

Having booked a table in advance we were quickly seated and served our chosen drinks from the limited wine list. The lobster risotto starter at £9.50 was excellent. The pork belly main course (£19.50) tasted good although a little oily/greasy. The accompanying fried new potatoes in pesto sauce were particularly good.
