Last minute stop early on a Saturday evening, very warm welcome from the owner and her staff member, both were very pleasant indeed. Very quickly shown to a table with drinks order taken, drink promptly arrived a few moments later. The specials board was great along with the regular menu, my husband chose the curry while I ordered the chicken breast, both our meals were tasty and ell cooked. For dessert it was the chocolate brownie and sticky toffee pudding. With drinks and a coffee the total bill was £58, all Worth the money and great quality food, Well worth the visit and what hesitate to visit again or recommend! During our visit we were also mindful of the way the owner spoke to all guests, the warm welcome we received was genuine for all. Thank you and we’ll be sure to see you again.

Thank you Linda for your welcome and excellent customer care. We had a great meal in such comfortable surroundings. My wife’s Sea Bass fish dish (£17) she said was really tasty, the garlic crushed potatoes were a highlight, lovely and crispy! The dish I had (£19)!was one of the best I’ve ever eaten. Carrots, parsnips, peas and leeks cooked perfectly. The mash was lovely, it had texture ( not overly worked) . Next….. the lamb was succulent and mint sauce was beautifully balanced (not overly vinegary). We had tea and coffee afterwards and spent less than £50 What a find! So as Arnie said “We will be back!” Thank you Linda

Our visit to The Usk and Railway Inn had not been planned and we literally gave them 15 minutes notice of our arrival, having had to abandon the hotel we had planned on staying in as the accommodation was appalling. We were greeted warmly by both the landlord and landlady, given the key to a superb room and then shown to the dining room. Although on Mondays and Tuesday, they offer a limited menu - the days we were staying, the menu was terrific as was the food. Our hosts were very attentive, always asking if everything was in order and we couldn't have asked for any more. Breakfast was also really excellent and kept us going all day until our return to eat in the evening. The accommodation was clean, tidy, warm and after our unpleasant experience at our pre-booked hotel was a breath of fresh air. We can highly recommend The Usk and Railway Inn's accommodation and restaurant. Many thanks to them for taking us in at such short notice. We are glad we found you!!

We were staying in Sennybridge for a couple of nights and were recommended this place. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment, we went to the bar to be greeted by a miserable stern barman who made us feel we were putting him out asking for a drink. We found a seat in the restaurant which was quiet, a couple of tables of 2 people and another table of 8. It was clearly advertised they serve food until 8.30 so we decided to order something as we still had 45 mins. All we wanted were a couple of bowls of chips and a garlic bread to share. We were told quite rudely by the lady in charge of the restaurant that they were so busy that didn’t know whether the kitchen would be able to do it!!!!! Eventually we did get them but made us feel as if we had really put them out. Definitely will not be going back and will not be recommending.

Hi, we're so sorry that you didn't enjoy your experience with us. We always aim to provide top notch customer service and we apologise if we let you down. However, we have to prioritise our booked tables and regardless of what you end up ordering there will always be a wait if you haven't booked. At no point did we say that we we would be unable to serve you, just that there would be a delay.

Cannot believe I waited over an hour and a half for food when the pub was basically empty and when it arrived it was possibly the worst ever thing ever, should have driven to Witherspoon. They wanted £18:95 for an overcooked, dry with fries like twigs, obviously been left under the heaters for to long and possibly the most unappealing thing I’ve ever been presented with. When I raised this the lead waitress was not the best at customer relations to say the least. Abercamlasis arms much better and half the price 🤷‍♂️

Hi Robert, we're so sorry that you didn't enjoy your meal at our Inn. You actually waited so long because you hadn't booked and we were unable to take your order until we had cleared our tables that had booked, we most certainly weren't empty. We immediately offered to re cook your meal which you declined and therefore we didn't charge you. Our aim is to ensure that everyone enjoys their experience with us and will always offer to put things right.

Booked a table for our second night in Sennybridge . The food was lovely but I was a little disappointed that they only had one curry on the menu, we were told by the waitress that it was quite spicy hot, even she can’t eat it. My hubby likes spicy food so ordered it, I opted for a burger. The curry was very tasty but yes to hot for me, my hubby really enjoyed it. It would be nice if you had a milder version of it as I really fancied curry. My burger was lovely, both were big portions. I’m hard of hearing and did find the tv in the bar section was a tad to loud in order for me to have a conversation. It is a nice pub and I wouldn’t hesitate to go there again if we ever visit the area again.

Stayed one night while touring Wales. We had a decent sized room which was very clean and at the back of the building. It looked recently decorated or refurbished. It had a modern, good sized TV and very comfortable bed. The en suite was equally clean with a very good shower. We ate during the evening and I had the best lamb shank ever with vegetables perfectly cooked. The food was hot and arrived in a timely fashion. The dessert was also very tasty if a little overpriced. The following morning we were served with a perfectly cooked breakfast. There were also cereals, toast, fruit etc. All in all, a perfect stay.

Loved our stay at Usk and Railway Inn, Linda and Andy very friendly and the food was lovely, especially the cooked breakfast where they use local produce. The room was very clean and the bed/ pillows comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here with my partner for 3 nights as a base to go walking in the Brecon Beacons. She and I agree we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay for our break! We arrived late on Friday evening to a warm welcome from Linda. The rooms are perfectly equipped, spacious and spotlessly clean (the hot shower is amazing... especially after the following day's hiking on the hills). Breakfast was plentiful. With a good choice of cooked breakfast (incl vegge option) and cereal- this set us up for a day on Pen y Fan! We returned for our evening meal. The pub was busy with a great atmosphere and both the food and service were spot on. I ordered the homemade curry, my partner ordered fish and chips. For our third evening we booked for Sunday roast. This was honestly the best Sunday roast we've ever had (1 vegge, 1 normal). I thought mine was good, this puts mine to shame. Overall this has been a fantastic stay, we'd highly recommend the Usk and Railway, either for food if your just passing or as a base for exploring the area. We will definitely be visiting again soon Thanks Linda and staff..

Really friendly and welcoming, staff attentive. Disappointed that both starters were compromised. Mussels out and duck spring rolls changed to veggie (no price change on the bill) They'd had a super busy bank holiday weekend so do understand but was disappointing all the same. Food was well cooked and presented. Pudding's were fab. Mentioned the lack of loo roll to a staff member which was replaced immediately. Overall it's a great environment with friendly efficient service. And I'd recommend. Just wish we'd be told about the starter limitations earlier on so we didn't look forward to something that couldn't be provided. Wine was great and a good price. Overall a perfectly lovely evening but no cigar.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments and I apologise for letting you down with the starters. We were indeed extremely busy over the bank holiday and were low on some items. Like all businesses we also continue to suffer from supply issues of certain items due to the after effects of Covid/Brexit. I can assure you however that where necessary we always adjust quantity on the plate to take into account any price variances where an item is less than the original. Not where it may be more expensive! It was a pleasure to meet you all and I hope that one day you are able to return and taste the starters in their full glory. I have written this reply promptly hoping you may read it this morning to let you know that a beautiful pink scarf was left at your table last night. With kind regards Linda

2 nights B&B with our dog in a standard double ensuite room. The room was very spacious, the bed super comfortable and everything was very clean. It faced the quieter of the two roads that border this pub and we had no issue with noise (windows shut as end of November) possibly different in summer. We had to pay ÂŁ10 per night extra for our dog but this seems common place these days. The owners were friendly and the food in the pub & the breakfasts were very tasty all in all a very pleasant few days exploring the Brecon Beacons.

We were booked in for an overnight stay on the first night of our Welsh holiday. We arrived in the rain and was welcomed by Caroline at the bar. This is a lovely little pub and restaurant with rooms above. Our room was lovely with en-suite. We had Sunday dinner in the restaurant and the food was very enjoyable, the other patrons were friendly too. After dinner we went to the pub area and enjoyed a pleasant evening with a very nice local man who shared his stories with us. Breakfast the next morning was plentiful, fruit juice, cereals, Welsh cakes, lovely cooked breakfast. Choice of teas, coffee. The owner served breakfast, she was helpful and accommodating. I found out that Caroline was her daughter and told her how she had looked after us the previous evening. This is a lovely place to stay, ideal for sightseeing, friendly and accommodating. Reasonably priced and in a lovely setting. Look forward to staying again.

We had a lovely overnight stay at the Usk and Railway Inn. The owner and the staff were really welcoming and so friendly. The quality of the food was superb and we would recommend the shredded lamb and the belly pork! Our room was spotless, the bed was really comfortable and breakfast was delicious . Overall, we were impressed and would happily stay again!

I spent 2 nights here and the room was lovely and comfortable, en suite and with TV, kettle etc plus the obligatory hairdryer and Gideon bible! The owners are very welcoming and helpful. When the TV didn’t work initially they sorted it out by the following day. Breakfasts are hearty and filling but the restaurant is outstanding. I ate here both nights it was that good. Fresh Welsh lamb chops, a variation on hunters chicken with blue cheese and puddings like Elton mess were all beautifully prepared and presented. The value for money is also worth mentioning. My double room was £70 including breakfast and the three course meals with wine less than £50. No wonder this place was packed every night! Book yourself a treat is my advice and explore the Brecon Beacons from here.

We booked for two nights but immediately added a third on arrival. The welcome we received from Linda was sincere and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. She even watered the many plants we had accumulated on our travels around Wales every day of our stay. The food was of a high standard and the specially prepared Indian meal on Tuesday night was a meal to remember. The accommodation was comfortable and the location in the Brecon Beacons is perfect ,surrounded by stunning scenery. Highly reccomended.
