We had a lovely dinner in the newly refurbished indoor space, which has been very tastefully decorated. The staff were very friendly, but it was the food that was simply outstanding. The fish dish with coconut broth and noodles really stood out. The prices are VERY reasonable for the quality of the food, and the wines by the glass also... More

After a morning cycling stopped at Le Caillau for lunch and so pleased we did! Tartlet with fresh garden veg and scallops was delicious and cerviche of sea bass got a big thumb's up. Tuna was well cooked with an interesting sauce and accompaniments. Couldn't resist desserts and they were lovely too. Recently refurbished restaurant looked great but sitting outside... More

A wonderfully light and spacious dining room , with carefully spaced tables and first class staff. The welcome is friendly and both Chas the owner ,and Eve the waitress , had time to talk about the food and restaurant and help with recommendations. The special pork of the day with garden vegetables was perfect - one of the starters ,... More

First time in their new building. Much larger than before but a cosy atmosphere and very comfortable leather chairs... Excellent food and decent value for money.

In a stunning setting on a beautiful sunny spring day, the first al fresco lunch of the year had a lovely lunch. Menu du Jour - hake and home grown veggies and a lovely dessert and a glass of wine along with good company - that says it all. Can't wait to return....

Went as a group and had a lovely meal. The plats du jour us excellent value although as a vegetarian I couldnt have it. Today it was green curry made with chicken and veg from their garden which those who had it all said was excellent. I had pasta with garden vegetables which was really lovely and wide range of... We live only half an hour drive away and visited 3 times after the barn was converted in a nice spacious but cosy restaurant. The conversion is perfectly done with great taste and respect conserving the old character of the building. Therefore the ambiance is great and little romantic with the great fireplace lit. Even the bathrooms downstairs are beautiful.... More

This restaurant is close to our house, but what gets us back there again and again is the quality of the food, the friendly and attentive service and the beautiful setting. When we take friends visiting from California, they swoon at the "cadre" and love their meal. We have eaten at Le Caillau often and will continue to do so!

My wife and I have just spent three months in the Lot region of France, our first visit to this area of France. Early in our travels we happened upon Le Caillau, incidentally closed for refurbishment at the time. An email to Chas to determine opening times over the festive season set us en route for a period of culinary... More

Excellent meal, international cuisine. More Stoke Newington on Lot than trad French. Drinking chilled red Cahors was an interesting adventure - worth a try. Good local wines - perhaps linked to the house? Clientele almost all non local - would be intriguing to know what locals think - would hope they appreciate the freshness of this approach and the profusion... More
