This is a restaurant that also is a museum for Rita. It has all kinds of information on her. The restaurant is small and quaint. When we went there was entertainment and the food was a special time that we booked in for a turkey dinner. It was just a great experience.

We departed Sydney shortly after breakfast, but I wanted to take my travel partners to Rita's Tea Room as they had never been there, although all of us are familiar with her music career. I suggested that since we had just eaten an hour before, we could check out the gift shop and perhaps have a cup of tea. Well....... More

We really loved this little place. It has heartwarming memories of Rita and her career. Good food and really nice and helpful staff. The little building has a lot of history on its own and should not be missed when in the neighbourhood.

We stopped here in August on a day when it was pouring rain. Once inside, however, the decorations, soft music and friendly staff made the day so much brighter. The interior IS airy and seems larger than it really is. The restaurant part seats roughly 50-75 people. Nice sturdy chairs so people of ample girth will be comfy here. The... More

Rita MacNeil's home has been transformed nicely into a lovely museum highlighting her life and music. There is furniture original to her family & many panels throughout with her song lyrics etched on them. As well, in the background, her records are playing...although one feels like she might just be in the next room singing to her heart's content. The... More

Stopped on our way to the Cabot Trail. Enjoyed reading about her, listening to her music playing in the back ground, savouring a scone with strawberries and cream, sampling her special tea and chatting with Charlotte and her Coworker, which were most friendly. Do take the time out of your travel, you too will enjoy it.

A must see if you are a fan of the great Rita MacNeil. It's a lovely place to stop for tea or lunch even if you're not a fan. It's a beautiful little restaurant and gift shop with great pastries. The staff are friendly and full of fun facts. Rita's gold and platinum records line the walls, some of the... More

We called in to Rita's tea rooms on our way to Sydney. The restaurant area is now beautifully laid out. The menu is limited but we both had the strawberry short biscuit which was very good. Definitely worth a visit.

We got here almost at closing time, too late to have tea, but had enough time to look around at all the memorabilia. We met her son, and a grandson, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice little gift shop, also bought a package of their homemade oatcake cookies, basically an oatmeal shortbread cookie, homemade and so yummy,... More

Rita McNeil teahouse in Big Pond, Cape Breton island is a must see place. We really enjoyed this stop in our travels. Excellent decorating and displays of memorabilia. Very friendly staff, tea or coffee and excellent coconut cream pie. Best of all you can listen to Ruth's voice while you enjoy yourself.
