We visited here for lunch between 2 Epernay champagne tastings. Staff were friendly and inviting. Enjoyed/split a tasting of 4 - it's meant just to show you the differences between each individual grape and the blend - it's not to showcase a particular brand. I...really enjoyed my Poulet Fermier (chicken veggies in stew) and my husband really enjoyed his Potee Champonoise (pork dish). Nice and relaxing outside and we weren't rushed. I think it was well worth the visit and walk around the town.More

In the tiny town of Haut Viliers is the church where Dom Perignon was in charge of the wine of the monastery….and just around the corner is this sweet restaurant. We prefer to eat light during the day so our experience was exactly as we...wanted….light bites paired with three champagnes, each of which was 100% of the varietals of Chardonnay, Pinot noir, and Meunier. People seeking variety might prefer the actual menu, which we did not see. We were too busy enjoying the incredible macaron which added the perfect finishing touch to our light lunch.More

Very pleasant place to visit and learn about champagne! Good place to understand champagne before you visit individual houses.

I literally do not understand the positive reviews for this restaurant. Either they had a major off-day or there's another restaurant with the same name that isn't on Tripadvisor. Had a nice table upstairs but the menu was so limited (a couple of mains were...not available) so the choice was limited to various bean-based cassoulets or a cheese board. Honestly i'm not overly fussy. The cassoulets were close to inedible, a mush of whatever resembling prison gruel in Papillon with bits of anaemic sausage slices thrown in. The flavour was so bland that you couldn't have identified anything with a blindfold on. And it wasn't cheap. Service was vary variable in friendliness and erratic in attention. To my shame, I didn't complain, we just wanted to get out as quickly as possible before we were issued with uniforms with arrows on. There's a much cosier restaurant down the road - try there, would be my advice.More

We had based ourselves in Reims for 5 days to enjoy day trips to surrounding towns. Choosing a different destination for exploration and lunch afforded us the time to enjoy each location without rushing. Wandering the streets to photograph the buildings and unique signs, we...found our way into a boutique. It turns out, the friendly proprietor’s son runs the bistro across the street and it books up for lunch, especially outside. We made a reservation and continued exploring for another hour or so. Lunch and a three-glass champagne tasting was very enjoyable. We shared a cheese platter and a delicious lentil w/sausage stew. The lentils were the smaller, tasty variety which had been soaked in champagne. The reviewer who referred to the menu as “snack food” was way off the mark. If you are not wanting a heavy lunch, this type of menu is the way to enjoy fresh local food. We would certainly return to this bistro.More

We had 4 champagnes, all very good. They pair very well with the food. We had stew (delicious!!) and the tasting platter with the famous macaron. Definitely best macaron ever! Good to know; you don't need to order the platter to get the macaron because...you can order it as a dessert :)More

A lovely lunch in a charming village. The service was friendly and the food (and champagne) was delicious. A little pricy, but worth it.

Lunch on a Friday: Nice ambiance, with option for indoor or outdoor seating. Tasty food, but small portions and slow service. Seemed understaffed.

We came here for lunch on our champagne tour and really enjoyed it. They had a flight of single grape champagnes so that you could understand the flavor profiles of each grape and their regional tasting plate was a great introduction and sharing plate for...my husband and I. We really enjoyed it.More

We ordered one of each main offering, cheese plate, regional sampler, and a pottage It was all extremely underwhelming and overpriced. The cheese sampler was around 14 euros and features a few pieces of Comte and brie that you could buy in any grocery store...for a couple of euros. For comparison, you can order an excellent cheese plate at one of the most upscale champagne houses on Avenue de Champagne in Epernay for less, which we regretfully noted on our next stop. The sampler plate essentially had tiny pieces of various snacks that all tasted like puff pastry - unsubstantial and disappointing. The pottage was likewise bad. All of this cost as much as a nice prix fixe lunch at an upscale restaurant. The Champagne flight we tried was good but it is very odd that they do not mention what champagne house the tastings are from (glasses are only marked with type of grape). I'm guessing this place has good reviews as the patio is lovely and there are few options in Hautvillers. Do yourself a favor and grab some bread and cheese and enjoy a picnic instead.More

After a tour of several champagne houses, we visited the grave of Dom Perignon in the tiny village of Hautervillers. we found a tiny restaurant serving a lunch combination plate, to which we added 3 flutes of champagne. Some people might call it "peasant food",...because of the simplicity of the dishes, but the robust flavors transcended the low price of the meal.More
