This was a wonderful experience. The restaurant is in a beautiful setting and the accommodation was beautifully presented to a very high standard. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. However...even better....was the food. We tried the tasting menu and it was superb! The food...More

Stupendous place. On a rare break from our own hospitality business we were looking for very high standards in a casual and peaceful environment, with of course a great dining experience. We got all of the aforementioned in spades and more. Meet and greet was...More

My wife and I recently stayed for dinner and breakfast to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The location is beautiful and very quiet. We stayed in the separate house and whilst very nice and comfortable, sounds do carry between the rooms. The atmosphere is very relaxed...More

This is a place we have wanted to visit for sometime, but the opportunity did not arrive until the weekend of 11/12th of June 2017. And how wonderful an experience this was. Situated in a most gorgeous area of North Yorkshire this old pub has...More

The staff are very pleasant here, the food is very good, dining room, atmosphere and comfort for me felt too simple to match the offering. Having travelled and struggled to find the place I felt in the dining room like I could have been in...More

A beautiful place to stay. A beautiful place to relax and eat some of the best food we have ever had the pleasure to enjoy. A deft touch, thoughtful and yet challenging. An experience that really does deserve another star. Blown away.

Talented chef Tommy Banks is preparing some innovative and skilled cooking at this rustic eatery in North Yorkshire. There is only once choice regarding the menu on the table and it's how many courses can you eat on the tasting menu. This may restrict some...More

What an amazing place! Tucked away unobtrusively in a small North Yorkshire hamlet. We stayed for one night in a cosy courtyard room with private terrace. Thoughtful touches too with fresh milk in the small fridge in the room and lovely shortbread biscuits. The pub...More

Hi, 2 hours is so not enough, 3 plus for sure. There is however one problem, there is a selective phone network it's wise to book your taxi in advance. The Black Swan does however offer a WIFI connection. So if there is an... More

Can you please let me know if there are any other way to get to Black Swan without using a car? We plan to take a bus from York but there seems to be no other way to get to Black Swan from Kilburn (last bus stop). Thank you!

Hi we are visiting the black swan in a couple of weeks as part of a relaxing break and wondered if it is appropriate for a man to wear a t shirt whilst dining, or is a shirt more suitable. Thanks

Hi, it's a fairly laid back place so I wouldn't imagine it would be an issue, but a shirt might be more appropriate for dinner.

Michelin-starred Restaurant. 4 AA Rosette Restaurant. AA 5 Star Rooms. "This is an extraordinary place, a true one-off. Unbeatable."- Alastair Sawday's. The Black Swan is dynamic with a truly creative and innovative team developing new ideas from a constantly refreshed palate of produce which we grow and forage ourselves. Guests experience something unique - an intimate reflection of our character, our place and our lives which is in essence "Oldstead Now". Stylishly grounded in tradition and culture yet cut through with a modern earthy, exuberant creativity and the occasional glimpse of eccentricity.
