Consistently Excellent!

We have been ordering takeaways from the Pir Palace for over a year now and I have to say the quality of the food has been consistently excellent. We have ordered a range of dishes, from a very extensive menu, and each one is packed full of flavour and is distinctive too which is not always the case in other restaurants. The staff are always friendly, polite and eager to help. I think this restaurant is excellent value for money and, in my view, unquestionably the best Indian restaurant in the area.

A old friend whom I hadn't caught up with for nearly 32 years and his partner visited from Yorkshire. Both are curry fans - so where else would I take them than to the Pir Palace in Uddingston where my family and I have been dining out and - more recently during COVID lockdown, ordering carry out at and from this restaurant since 1994 The food at the Pir Palace is always tasty, well cooked and with a beautifully blended multi layered palate. Last night was no exception! My friend and his partner loved the food and were taken with the warm welcome, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the boss.

Excellent food, environment and team.

I haven’t been to the Pir in a few years due to the pandemic as I live really far away. I was so looking forward to a delicious meal and was worried I’d built it up as it had been so long but I hadn’t, it was truly delicious. Everything was perfect, from our booking being taken efficiently to the welcome we got when we arrived, to the actual meal. As always Shamshad, Hazel & Hanif were so welcoming and efficient, the chef is obviously brilliant but it’s the front of house team who make the Pir special . The restaurant was quite busy when we arrived but we were quickly seated and tables that were vacated were quickly and thoroughly cleaned so we felt very safe. The food was as amazing as I remember. My Bombay prawn poori was absolutely wonderful, my chicken hyderabadi was perfect and the Pir special naan was worth the 80 mile round trip. The bill was very reasonable. It definitely won’t be as long until I’m back, as it truly is my favourite restaurant thanks to the food and the team serving.

Disappointed !!

have eaten here and ordered takeaway for years, but wont offer my custom again after recent visit. Decor is worn out, and the carpet is just disgusting, however, despite decent food being served they attempted to overcharge my bill by £10 and failed to comply with the government initiative to "Dine out to help out". I feel their lack of effort on many fronts shows a disappointing approach to securing long term business. When questioned about The current initiative, the flat response is we aren't doing that, we have our own special offer - which sadly no one advised us of. In summary - i wont rush to sit down in a dirty restaurant and be exposed to overcharging from a proprietor that fails to grasp the concept of a government run scheme designed to assist his business through difficult times.

After reflection and discussion with my staff I want to address the points that you raise. Firstly we provide a safe/ hygienic environment to all our patrons. Attacking the decor because as a business we have not opted for the government dine out initiative is not reasonable nor acceptable. The facts are as follows- a genuine mistake had been made which was clarified and rectified by the staff. For transparency this is what actually happened, you had been charged for drinks twice-however this was bought to your attention BEFORE you paid the bill. We as a business want to make the restaurant as safe as possible for both customers/ staff alike. Given the size of the premises we as a team decided not to opt to take part in the dine out initiative- this is our prerogative. Especially when customers like yourself are not capable of maintaining social distancing guidelines within the premises. You were observed to take part in a conversion with a carry out customer for ten minutes without adhering to social distance guidelines. Yet it seems you are on a mission to discredit the restaurant with inaccurate description/ report just because you didn’t get a discounted meal. As you have ordered takeaways for a number of years you must be aware of the quality of the food we serve. It’s just a pity that you felt the need to attack the restaurant because of point scoring.

Got a booking over the phone,pleasant and cordial . We arrived at our allocated time, the entrance is very shabby, and the actual restaurant is dated, the carpet was filthy,and the waiters looked very casual the way they dressed. The chicken pakora and the spiced onions were great, the curries were nice but awfully sweet. Cleanliness costs nothing, and guys get yourselves a uniform,presentation is everything when dealing with the public. It’s a great location , smarten your selves and the ressuraunt up and you’ll see the difference in business

After reflection with my team of staff we all feel that your review is unjust and unfair. Let me address the points raised by you in detail:- Firstly staff attire. All waiters and our waitress had on formal black dress trousers, formal shirts, and black formal shoes. I would not class the attire as casual in way, shape or form. Your comment is completely false and shaming. Secondly- the curry- you ordered-the Chasni is a sweet and sour dish. It clearly states that on the menu. It’s one of our most popular dishes. Finally- our carpet change is pending- and has unfortunately been delayed twice due to the circumstances of the pandemic. This has been a tough year for many businesses as I’m sure you’ll appreciate.

First meal here in a long time and it was excellent. Lovely to see the same team serving and the restaurant was looking great. It was spotless which is a big comfort in these covid times. The food was all delicious, it was fresh, tasty and the portions were really generous.

Brilliant first takeaway

Having recently moved into the area, we've been searching for a decent Indian. We gave Pir Palace a go tonight (we collected our takeaway) and were not disappointed! Decor of the restaurant is a bit dated but as we were just picking up it didn't bother us. Staff were really friendly. Fresh, authentic tasting food and speedy service. Plus they deliver to a good range of places outside of Uddingston which is good to know. Glad to have found it!

I've been getting takeawqy and dining in for years and finally getting round to a review. Food is never less than good and is often outstanding. The pakora is the best around. Extensive menu that I am still working my way through. Service is always good and friendly from staff who have been there a long time. Thorougly recommended !

Great food, service and buzzy atmosphere

Popped in to this place by chance while passing through and, wow, what a nice curry! Food was really good and our waitress, a local lady, was fantastic! The menu was extremely extensive and service was speedy. It wasn’t the busiest place on a Friday night but had a nice buzzy atmosphere. The naan bread is one of the best we’ve ever had.

great night out

lovely night out from start to finish, nice welcome from friendly waiter, decor not up to date " modern " but nice and clean, [wc as well] but we were there for the food,..and..best Indian meal i have had for a long time..just the right amount and very very tastey and good and hot. Good prices as well.. Will defo be back ,loved every bit of our night..thanks Pir Palace

Amazing

The food here is amazing probably the best Indian I have had We had 4 starters to share each one was so taste especially the onion Bhaji never had them done that way before The curries were exceptionally good the chicken in all of the was so tender and not dry 1st class The pashwari Naan was in a league of it own absolutely fabulous Serve was very good the waitress was very friendly and efficient We will be back in the new year Thank- you for a lovely evening

Salty!!!! But not much else!

Poor quality carry out. V salty… all tasted the same. Makhani was really awful! Nan bread was doughy and tasteless…. At least it wasn’t overly salty😂

Although you placed your order on Just Eat- it’s a real pity that you didn’t consider picking up the phone and letting us know that you didn’t like your meal. Interestingly Makhani Masala and the Nan breads are both good sellers/ and no other customer (both Take Out and Sit In) mentioned that it was overly salty.

We have been going to this restaurant for donkeys years and never had a bad meal, 16 family members went on Tuesday including my niece from America, the food and the service was exceptional and she loved it, a big thanks to Hazel and the staff for a great night. Gordon.
