We made a left turn, instead of a right turn, and found ourselves driving up to a really cool hilltop hamlet, I Casali di Vallo di Nera. There we found Locanda Cacio Re and thoroughly enjoyed a lunch that included gnocchi and trout. The service was great given the host/hostess were very patient with our inability to speak Italian. We... More

This restaurant (which also offers rooms) is superbly located in the charming hillside village of Vallo di Nera - in the Valnerina, no more than 15 minutes from Spoleto. High on a hill, it offers wonderful views of the valley, by day and night. In summer, there is an expansive terrace for al fresco meals. Paolo and Cinzia are warm... More

This restaurant did not disappoint in any aspect: Excellent food, beautiful view, professional service, and superb value for money. Try the surprisingly varied cheese platter, and if you're daring - one of their special desserts.

It's our first time here, but Cinzia and Paolo welcome us as old friends. They immediately share their "secrets" on jam preparation with our 10 year boy, help us in the rooms and leave us to our relax. Food is great. Menù offers good choice and in two dinners we have tried a lot (our favourite: strengozzi al tartufo, caramella... More

We stayed at the Locanda Cacio Re and had dinner at their lovely restaurant and can recommend both. The inn is charming and clearly a labor of love. Our room looked out at the gorgeous mountains and valley, and our stay was very peaceful. The rooms were very clean and all of the staff were very friendly. The town itself... More

After a long trip along Valnerina it may happens to you to be hungry, then this is really the place to have a stop over. Caciore is really much more than a locanda or a taverna, but a place where the passion for the fine dining meets the local fresh food and traditions. We have tried their appetizers "caciore" and... We were on a Collette Explorations Tour with 22 new friends when we went to Locanda Cacio Re to learn to make an appetizer, pasta and dessert at this lovely restaurant. We had a great time at our lesson though our efforts would not have tasted nearly as well without the excellent "finishing" by the restaurant staff. The restaurant is... More

I have been in Cacio Re several times and every time I look forward to come back there! If you love to eat truffle, you do not have to miss it! The antipasti are absolutely without comparison, bruschette with truffle, salami and cheese of the region juicy omellette with fresh truffle and then the best in class "caramella"with truffle and... Description
Merged in the enchanting landscape preluding to the Monti Sibillini National Park, in the heart of green Umbria, is the Hotel Locanda Cacio Re from an ancient 16th century refurbished farm. Inside, you'll find comfortable rooms, named after local legends characters, with a wonderful view over the Nera River valley, and a typical restaurant, 'La Locanda di Cacio Re', our passion... Close to the hotel is the medieval Vallo di Nera Castle, still populated and perfectly preserved, with its boundary walls, towers and stone-made houses. Its beautiful churches are place of classical music concerts and are a perfect spot for any kind of ceremony. Nature and Culture join in this place, where you can still feel the touch with the land and silence... Here is our Restauant, 'Locanda di Cacio Re', where each course is prepared with creativity and refinement. Inside, you'll taste the products offered by Valnerina lands: truffles, cheeses, hams, sausages, lambs, lentil and spelt, coupled to a wide selection of great quality wines...
