If you have done your shopping at the Premier Outlet at Formosa and is looking for a good lunch before you hit the highway which is just about 200 meters away - I highly recommend Restoran Ikan Bakar Simpang Ampat. Authentic kampung type of Malay food - with a variety of fish serving, the favorite of which is the assam pedas fish. Very much like home cooked food in a simple setting. Best time to go is outside the busy lunch hour crowd.Try it!

this place is packed during lunch hour. Not because it serve good ikan bakar, it was all due to the place is near the main road and one of the few place that you can stop before you enter the highway

We were driving along the highway to Batu Gajah on our way to A Famosa Freeport Zone for some shopping. On the way back, we got hungry and decided to stop at this quaint restaurant located next to the Petronas gas station along a row of shop lots. Mind you I have never been a fan of Asam Pedas. I decided what the heck, let's give this one a try. This very basic restaurant serves Ikan Bakar, Asam Pedas with various types of fish, 1 type of vegetable, local ulam and sambal belacan. That's it. So i picked my fish, half a plate of rice, stir fried cabbage, local ulam and sambal belacan. I was blown away! the Asam Pedas was sooo good we had seconds! Afterwards, a nice cold glass of iced tea to quench our thirst on that hot humid day. Just across the road I spied some food trucks selling local malay kuih and my all time favourite kuih keria! i was ecstatic...we just had to buy a few types for tea time later :)

We had our lunch here. There are a lot of choices of asam pedas fish and the taste is beyond expectations. It is delishes! They also serve ikan bakar if you are looking for another option. Reasonable price and worth the try. Try it out and you will not regret.

There's not much on the menu, there's only fish, for those with small children, it's suitable to eat there, as is the dish for children, there's spicy sour sauce and curry only... the prices are also expensive
