I love this restaurant! The staff are super friendly and the setting really cosy. Normally I don’t like going to restaurants during lunchtime, but here it’s a afternoon well spent. The food never lets me down. If there is pigeon on the menu: do not...hesitate. Cannot wait to go back this friday!More

The food from this one star Michelin restaurant is in one word: top! Delicious and fresh, no comments at all. Unfortunately the setting and the decorations of the restaurant are so basic, that it is hard to believe that this restaurant received one star from...Michelin. We sat outside during lunch but when looking around we thought we were visiting a brasserie next to a busy road. In fact there is a busy road next to the restaurant, but that's OK after all. It is the building itself which has no 'charm' and is a little old-fashioned. Service was not OK, not friendly and only giving a basic explanation when serving the plates and wines.More

The building is nicely decorated. Posh and comfy. Tables a little narrow. The big menu is not very expensive : 65€ for five courses plus four mises en bouche is a good deal. The plates are beautiful, it’s imaginative and interesting but in the mouth...a real lack of salt and “gourmandise” sadly puts you in a little disappointed state after each course. If the menu is kindly priced, the simili “spritz” served in tiny champagne flutes was billed 24€ (2) which I thought was really over the top. All in all we had a nice meal but nothing was surprising nor deeply memorable. It’s a one star restaurant and I think it won’t ever be more.More

We've been living in Texas for the past 4 years, and make it a habit to tour the best tables in Belgium once a year. Already the second time Aux Petits Oignons, and I have to say the cooking skills of Stephane & his team...keep climbing. The Michelin star is most definitely deserved, now when it comes to the 15 from Gault&Millau, I feel it could soon turn into a 16! Upgrading the side bread and smiling a bit more (ladies) would certainly help to this regard. Overall, this restaurant is still superbly priced for what you get and how you get it (service). "Mention Speciale" for the sauce of the Maigre Roti, a tremendous success! Congrats to the whole team, please keep up the good work! LudovicMore

We went to this place with a group of 6. The restaurant is located in the French speaking part of Belgium, but almost all staff members speak at least 2 languages! Although the restaurant was almost completely full, the service was fast. The food is...of good quality, tasty and presented with care. We only have 1 remark: compared to other comparable restaurants, their price is too low.More

The photos on trip should have warned me, every plate a picture, composed of rather a lot of ingredients in the form of tufts, emulsions, etc. In some plates you had to look very good to find the head ingredient. I rather have less ingredients,...and bigger "chunks" of them. Ok, but what about the taste ? The appetizers (4 of them) were really good. The first course (Marinated bream / Japanese citrus / fregola salad and coriander / coconut and green apple) a really good combination of contrasting flavours. After that, things still were good, but not that surprising anymore. For me, the best course was the cheese ... Cost for the menu = 58€ for 6 courses. In a star-restaurant, that's really cheap. But I think foodcost is quite low, see my remark about finding the head ingredients. Wine pairing comes at 32€. No wines to remember, pity.More

My wife and I visited aux petits oignons on a Friday evening and it was very busy - all tables were in use. We were very much impressed by the original and tasty cuisine - from the many starters up to the desert: excellent and...really worth the trip to Joidogne. There were however 2 elements that we did not like: - the interior was rather old fashioned and the chairs were not comfortable, some tables very close to eachother which did preclude any sense of privacy - so rather a restaurant to go to in a group than as a couple; - probably also as a result of the fact that it was very busy the service (though very friendly) was extremely slow: it took more than 1 hour to get our first dish (in a menu of 5 courses).More

This was a very nice discovery for us. It was a beautiful day, so we were able to sit on the pleasant terrace. The food was excellent. At times a bit over-elaborated (e.g. The "foie" dish bites were too small and diverse), but consistently very...tasty. Wines were good (limited wine list). Given the distance from Brussels (or other cities), prices are reasonable. In contract to the experience of previous reviewers, we experienced a good service.More

I was invited by a friend to celebrate his wife's birthday and I was in for a surprise... I had never heard of this restaurant before and I did not know what to expect. We took the 55 euro St. Valentine menu with the assorted...wines (30 euro) and I was blown away. Everything that was served, from the first amuse-bouche to the last biscuit with the coffee, was of an exceptional quality. The chef knows what he's doing, and the service was excellent. I am confident that this restaurant will have a Michelin star in the near future. I will definitely be back.More

From the outside it looks like a simple restaurant in a not so interesting building, from the inside it's a complete different story, with an elegant and modern interior. Although it looks a bit crammed in there, there is actually enough privacy between the tables...so you can enjoy a quiet diner. This restaurant has been on my to-do list for several years now, and I finally had the opportunity to go there, the expectations that had been accumulating over this period were even met and surpassed without any difficulty. The food is original and of an outstanding level, and in touch with the season and terroir. A simple onion soup blew my tasting pallet completely upside down, and it continued the all night long. I am not going to run through the entire meal I ate, but at the end the feeling was blissful from the food and a bit tipsy from the wine, as they don't stop serving ! This is a new favorite of mine, and has obtained a nice place in my little black book of restaurants to revisit with friends and family.More
