The wait staff were great we didn't wait long between sitting down ordering our meal and wine and getting our meals. The risotto was cooked well and was delicious and the fresh lasagne was amazing. Definitely recommend if you are looking for authentic Italian

We were not in a rush but waited a while for the waitress to return to take our order. Three of four meals arrived but we waited for the fourth that didn't show up. We asked for them to be kept warm while we waited for the missing fourth meal which was difficult. The four meals arrived with no apology... More

When all the wait staff use the small gap between your table and your neighbor, even when there is a designated walkway, as a cut through, you're not coming back. Terrible. The staff, from the host to our waitress, couldn't be less interested. Took ages to place our order, receive our drinks and then the main course basically arrived at... More

My husband and myself saw this restaurant on our way to the opera house and thought it looks good, why not go for some nice Italian dinner. Unfortunately the food was very average, the place was extremely pricey, and the service was just ok. I really would not recommend any one visiting Sydney to come here! There are definitely better... Visited three times (yes, three!) on our recent trip to Sydney. A small, authentic menu with young Italian staff. Everything done well. Fit out clean and modern in a stunning old building at the rocks. Staff engaging and friendly. Fresh pasta, light pizza and desserts to write home about. Everything spot on. If you love Italian cuisine, highly recommended. Five... More

When faced with a long wait for our cruise ship embarkation, after dropping off our luggage, we spotted this 'little bit of Italy' up on the Rocks - and what a find! The service was streamlined and efficient, and we had hands-down the best GF pizza we have ever tasted. Don't change a thing!

Usually we would have some delicious pancakes at Pancakes on the Rocks but time was against us as there was a queue waiting to get in and our flight was not going to wait for us. So we slowly ventured back towards Circular Quay and found Appetito with a very enthusiastic maitre d outside. The poster advertising Fish and Chips... More

We found this Italian restaurant by accident as we were walking thru an outdoor market. It looked clean and was air conditioned. We didn't have a reservation but took a chance. Brilliant! The smells from the open kitchen had us salivating before we were seated. Our waitress was fantastic. Her recommendations made for an outstanding dining experience. The ravioli were... More

We dined here for lunch as it was recommended by our concierge. Turns out they have 8 pasta or pizza lunch specials for $16 a person, which in Sydney is very cheap. We had 2 lovely pizzas which had thin crusts and the perfect amount of toppings. Sat on the patio so had shade and nice breezes overlooking the overseas... More

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
