Had lunch here and paid over $50 for 2 people for 4 dishes. Food was average and we thought it quite expensive. Did not select anything out of the ordinary but It seems like mostly everything was XL when it came time for the lady to stamp our card. I don't believe there is anything that is S (small) or... This is old school yum cha just like in HK - trolleys, crowded, loud, rude staff, quick turnover, hit and miss food. Some of the dishes are great - some best left on the trolley. Go early when things are still fresh - I am sure by 1pm many of those dumplings have been circling tables for 2 hours... Go... More

This is one of the good places to have dim sums that come out piping hot on trolleys. The price is reasonable and there's quite a range of dim sums to choose from. Just note that this place is always busy on weekends after 12:30pm.

Whenever I come to Sydney (from Europe) I always make a point of coming here for Yum Cha. After my experience this week, I will not be returning. The staff almost without exception were rude, disinterested and sloppy. The place was dirty, and it feels like none of the staff takes pride in their work. Not one smiling or welcoming... More

Our first stop when arriving Sydney. Great varieties, plenty tables, we arrived Sunday morning and just walked in without booking. The trolleys came frquently and staff were very attentive.

In Sydney primarily to see a show & decided to eat at Marigold Chinese Restaurant.. was so disappointed as the food was as basic as could be.. simple Chinese food done badly, staff even looked unhappy at being there. Didn't leave much hope for the rest of us. Don't think that I've been in a place whereby I wanted to... More

We've only ever come here for dim sum and we are never disappointed, even if it's a bit more expensive compared to other places around the area. Went there early today to beat the crowds, only problem with that is that the carts aren't coming by as frequently and some of the nice deep fried stuff is hard to come... More

This is one of the well established Dim Sum restaurant in town. We came early on a weekday so securing a table was smooth as silk. All the Sew Mai, Hat Gaw and Buns were just perfect.

We eat here whenever we go to Chinatown with visitors. A bit on expensive side and crowded but food is always good. Stuffed tofu, scallops with snow peas salt and pepper squid , all good. Service ok, dessert after meal was nice too. Typical decent Chinese restaurant and always maintain this and nice good restaurant so we always go there.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Tiger-flanked archways on Dixon Street mark the entrance to the “little Asia” of Sydney. A walk through Chinatown is a feast for the senses where aromas, tastes, sounds and visions of dancing tigers transport you to a different world. Chinatown visitors can expect a melting pot of Asian food at the neighbourhood's specialty delis and groceries. From yum cha to handmade noodles, BBQ ducks hanging in the window to Asian sweets and bakeries, there is something for all tastes. Paddy’s Markets is the largest flea market in Sydney where you can find souvenirs, clothing, gifts and fruit and vegetables at unbeatable prices. At night, Chinatown comes alive with entertainment including theatre, nightclubs and bars that are open until the early morning.
