I was very impressed when I dined here a few years ago. The second visit, the food was OK, but I have to say it was not as excuisit as the previous one. Still above average.

We have been at this restaurant for my birthday. The waitress brought us two menus, both of them with fixed prices; one was $130 and the other one was $140. I was not very hungry so we had to ask if there was a menu 'a la cart' so she brought us other two menus, one fixed price of $80... More

We recently celebrated my husband and son's birthdays with a dinner for 6 at Yoshi's. We took the private room which meant for the oldies we could hear every word of the conversation and take our time (2.5 hours) over an exquisite dinner. So many restaurants want to rush you through dinner so they can accommodate another setting. The food... More

Several years ago, this was the preeminent sushi restaurant in Sydney, but when I went back recently, the service was annoying, and the food quite ordinary.

Wow! It was terrible! The minute we arrived the confused staff were unable to find our reservation (I had the email confirmation) then they told us we could sit at the sushi bar, which was empty. That was fine except we were completely ignored the whole time. We had to call staff over 15 minutes after not even being offered... More

I'd really like to be tucked up in bed now coz im a little bit sleepy from the most exhausting dining experience ever but I think i really need to let people know how bad this place is. Plus, I'm too hungry to sleep. You might be sleepy too, but trust me, its well worth hanging in for. The ending... More

Small but upmarket Japanese sushi restaurant. Delicious food. Friendly service (perhaps a little too much!) but slow service. There were only 5 people in the restaurant at lunch time (including the 3 in my party), and the whole service took over 1.5 hours! The lunch time menu we had is a set menu with your choice of a main -... More

Wonderfully executed traditional Japanese fare with surprises along the way. All the food was fresh, beautifully presented by this extremely talented chef. Most diners there were Japanese and it seems he has quite a following. We loved moving from one delight to another without being over full. The menu is set and barring allergies you get what is on the... More

I've read the conflicting reviews about Yoshii and can, since having eaten there, understand the diversity of the reviews as I don't think Yoshii is everyone's taste. The restaurant only offers 2 degustation options and while this is certainly self limiting for choice you do have the option to ask for an alternative to individual items on the menu. For... More

We came with great expectation,s, having heard of Yoshii's signature set lunch menu several years back. The $80 lunch is still good, especially the sushi selection with first class seafoods, but some other offerings are rather bland. We can eat better, probably for a bit less, at several other Japanese restaurants in the CBD.

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
