First time to the Almond Bar based on a recommendation for the once a month breakfast. The place was full of happy customers all enjoying the breakfast menu. We shared the $30.0pp breakfast which included a large variety of dishes including Syrian style sausage, 12 hour roast lamb in yoghurt and chick peas...Excellent.. Olives. Labna, pita bread, zatar, egg plant... More

Came here with some close friends for a lovely dinner. The surroundings are intimate. The service attentive. The food superb. They even have a special dish of the day, of which they donate a potion to the Syrian Refugee Children. A restaurant with a conscience is a restaurant to be patroned. We will definitely be back again.

Best place I ate in Sydney so far! Everything tastes so fresh and unique. Grilled lamb was amazing and the Tuna also. Best dip was eggplant avo. Garlic bread was so crunchy and delicious. We got some more dips and they were all really delicious. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. I'm looking forward to go there again. Consider reservations... More

My Friend had booked this restaurant for her daughters 21st on Madi Gra night. The guys that run this place are very accommodating and friendly. Allowed the restaurant to be booked from 3- 8 and did not take reservations until 8.30. Coming from a middle eastern background and traditionally knowing the food we were being served unlike many other restaurants... More

Almond Bar is small, intimate, a bit dark, and wonderful. You are greeted by friendly staff and seated at a table already set with a little platter of delicious almonds in various guises that immediately destroy any hope of "being sensible because I'm on a diet". The food offers a great variety of flavours and textures and is attractively presented.The... More

Tucked away in Darlinghurst is this compact but delightfully atmospheric restaurant. Wonderful staff who are knowledgable and friendly with a charming smile. Leave the selection up to them and you will always be delighted. We were a two family party of eight including four children of ages 12 to 14 and we all had a ball. Loved it.

This place has great food and does an great job in such a small space- all the dishes we shared were excellent and although full the setting was very intimate and friendly. Only challenge was sitting in a restaurant on chairs without backs for too long - this is such a trend in Sydney restaurants and for those of us... More

We had an excellent time in this small restaurant. Our welcome was warm, the service was excellent and the food delightful. My daughter is gluten intolerant and this was catered for with a wide variety of options. I look forward to returning when I am next in Sydney

Service is friendly & welcoming & the food is very tasty. It's the first time I've eaten Syrian food so I have to take it that it's very traditional food. Well worth the visit, prices are good. Make a booking but it's totally worth trying this quaint place.

The food is perfect for sharing . Our group choose a number of dishes . The staff were helped with the selection to give a wide variety of taste and flavours. They also made sure each dish had enough for 6 people.(eg we received 6 succulent grilled lambs skewers) My personal favourite was the arr’nabit (traditional fried cauliflower with tahini... More

Staying in Darlinghurst

Neighbourhood Profile
Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney, Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and 1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning. Vintage lovers flock to Crown Street, and small designer boutiques can be found along Victoria and Bourke Streets. Dining in Darlinghurst is a gastronomic adventure. Food from all over the world is on the menu, from American ribs to tapas, sushi to gelato and every ethnicity in between.
