The restaurant has changed hands. The food is not as good, nor does it include the variety that used to be in the boat. No oysters, no rolls as there used to be in the boat for about $40. Value is no longer evident. It's OK but not as good at all as before.

We visited with our family. Place was fully busy so we could tell this place was the shizzle. If you could pick a fault with this place then you probably don't understand traditional Japanese. Good food and we loved the final gesture from the management to provide complimentary ice cream to my boys. Thanks.

I visited hamachi-ya with my friends and was very disappointed with the outcome. The starters were very average, we shared edamame, pork gyoza and some sushi rolls. The sushi was ok, and my friend liked her meal as she only had the sushi. I had the chicken Katsu donburi, the dish was made up of rice, onion, fried egg and... More

For 10 years, this little gem has been our family favourite. Not any more. The new owners have totally ruined the food. The portions are way smaller, our favourite meals have changed, the ingredients are very poor. What a shame. The tempura was disgusting. The udon noodles are no longer actual udon noodles - but some other thin (cheaper) variety.... More

Very fresh sushi (thanks to local Sydney fish market). Donburi lunches are just right. Tempura is delightfully light and good size servings. Great service.

The sushi was fresh. The portions were large and we found it to be cheap. The service was great. Very fast service. Not the most romantic setting but worth the visit

I had the "vegetarian" box and I was curious about one of the contained items - agadashi as it had weird scaly trimmings covering all the tofu but the waitress advised me that it was just tofu upon ordering. I didn't find out until I got home and did some researching that agadashi is served with Benito flakes aka fish.... More

Quick duck in for a light dinner, food was nice - not very large portions but lovely nonetheless. Atmosphere very casual.

Went to Hamachi-ya with my friends and ordered a bento box. It was delicious and had lots of variety. Reasonable price for their food.
