Walked in the place, sat down and soon was ordering some dinner that ended up being very good. Dinner came out fast, the staff were never pushy but also kept checking up on us. I fully recommend as a mid priced beer and food place.
We stopped here on a very hot day for lunch. The food was quick, and very tasty. It felt a bit expensive for a lunch restaurant, but it appears the same menu is used for lunch and dinner, so dinner prices seemed more reasonable. Would...More
It seemed to be birthday night when we visited, which meant there was a good vibe. Food was reasonably priced and nicely cooked with Australian sized portions. I ate barramundi fish covered with spicy sauce (sounds awful but was very tasty) whereas partner had chicken...More
Have visited Sporties several times previously and it is a pleasant enough Bar , not that big, but the outside area is better as inside can get very loud depending on the clientele ! Good for a quick drink or two ?
Basic cafe style seating. Staff were efficient and pleasant. Sadly food was pretty mediocre. Nothing bad about it but nothing good. Large portions but bland. It was cheap compared with other Alice restaurants. You get what you pay for!
Stopped long enough for a couple of drinks which were reasonably priced, but never had the chance to eat as they only had a small table tucked away for single diners. Not what I had in mind, so that's where we parted ways.
I've only ever been to Sporties previously for lunch. I was a wee bit nervous about going there for Dinner, but need not have been. My friend Todd had the Beef and Bugs, as he's from Townville where fresh seafood is plentiful. His only disappointment...More
Had lunch here with 12 mates. All said food was great. I had the beef burger which was huge and included plenty of chips. Prices are very good with average prices for lunch between 19 dollars at bottom end and 36 for upper end. There...More
A group of us visited for dinner on a very busy night (master games opening ceremony). We managed to get a table for 8! Very friendly staff, quick for the food to come out. Huge portions. I had the veg fettuccine (mains size) and there...More

Desert Garden Hotel is a daytrip from Alice - return - not worth the travel for a meal. If you decide to stay in Alice for a few days, Sporties would be a good place for a meal - yes you can book and they will put some tables together for you. I suggest minibus taxis around Alice. Don't walk around Alice at night unless in a group. Have fun.
