We had a family dinner for five here and couldn't fault it. The waiter was clearly professionally trained and took pride in his work. He was knowledgeable, welcoming and attentive. The food was superb. We had the carpaccio, scallops and sardines for entree, and fish curry, coral trout, yellowfin tuna and seafood linguine for mains. All were fresh and amazingly... More

2nd visit to On The Inlet and enjoyed it as much as the first. Had the whole deep fried Coral Trout and it didn't disappoint. I would go again if in Port Douglas.

Wonderful location over the water; especially just before sunset. Pleasant mixed family/couples/groups environment with casual, informal atmosphere. Fantastic seafood - local mud crab was hard work but worth it. Seafood linguini looked even better. Teenagers happy too.

We have eaten there a couple of times over the past few years and the food has always been beautiful. This time we're disappointed as the "market price" of the seafood seemed to be excessive (lucky we asked beforehand as we would have got "bill shock" if we ordered the platter). Both my wife and daughter couldn't eat both the... More

The coral trout was very delicious.... perfect for someone like me who doesn't like a 'fishy' taste. My husband had the 'spaghetti marinara ' if the prawns had of been slightly larger, he would have given this fish 12/10. As it stands, it got 10/10...... yes, it was that good. The fish was fresh and plentiful.

So, we decided based on the great reviews to have dinner here. Being a Saturday we thought we'd better book. So we called about 5pm, phone rang out, no answering machine. We called again several times over the next hour or so with the same result. So we decided to go anyway, on the off chance there would be room.... More

The location is wonderful, well set out restaurant & bar area, overlooking the water. Staff very attentive & helpful without being pushy or in your face. Wine list had a good range & the food we had was great. We shared several entrees, or starters & found there was plenty of food on each on & the freshness, quality &... More

We visited On the Inlet for drinks and with the hope that we might spot George, the famous fish who visits most nights. We arrived at about 4:30 and ordered some drinks and were lucky to get a spot right over the water. It gets very busy at about 4:50 with people hoping to see George at 5. The staff... More

It will be a big loss to Port Douglas when this restaurant closes later this year to accommodate an expansion of luxury housing. It is a classic fish-house setting, right on the water, with supremely fresh seafood. If coral trout is offered, don't miss it! Quiet enough that you can actually have a conversation!
