Apothecary 1878 is an oasis in Adelaide. Our degustation was up to the usual high standard and as a vegetarian, I highly recommend the consideration and care with which the vegetarian tasting menu is prepared. The ambiance, service, wine selection and cuisine are all spectacular. This is our favourite restaurant in Adelaide and a must-visit whenever we are there from... More

Ambiance was fun - once you are inside, you completely forget about the hub-bub, busy street and surrounding bars. Service was slow making for an unintentionally long evening. Food felt overpriced for what it was, even for Australia standards.

This was an outstanding restaurant... although looking at some of the reviews I wondered if I was in the same place! The ambience is unusual and fascinating and the menu fabulous. We began with oysters and sardines on toast... I had the quail entree followed by the beef fillet ... the wine list is outstanding and the first restaurant in... More

I found this online, because we were staying in the area. We walked in an the ambiance in amazing. An old drug store. We had mixed drinks from the special mixed drink menu that were to die for. They were delicious. We had the cheese plate and as one of our cheeses the waiter suggested gouda. It was one of... More

We were looking forward to going to this restaurant and were very disappointed with the food. The atmosphere downstairs was good as was the service and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I expect a menu that includes a chef's selection to state what it is. This restaurant does not so we did not go for this option. The food... More

Beautiful food. We choose the "Chef Complete Option" and could not have been happier with the selection. The ambiance was lovely, soft jazz music, attentive staff and a history lesson on the walls.

Had a meal in town and to end a great night we wanted to relax before bed with a Scotch that we hadn't tried before, they have a good selection but all predominantly Scottish, I know don't need to correct me I understand the connection but we were looking for something more unusual like Japanese which we heard were very... Went here for a special dinner for four. Took the Chefs selection menu which was reasonably priced and choice made by the Chef. The food was okay but no dish really hit the 'excellent mark.' The decor is interesting and makes for a great atmosphere - we sat on the ground level with a window table so it was a... More

My husband and I went here during our honeymoon. The decor was amazing - I haven't seen a Bex's packaging in real life in my lifetime and there were old glass syringes and similar packets (locked safely away in cabinets). There was an amazing pharmacy cabinet along one wall. We had attentive waitstaff who were both very pleasant and also... More

I'll preface this by saying, maybe we picked the wrong place but I'll share our experience for the benefit of others. My daughter wanted to go somewhere special, with atmosphere, for dinner on her 18th birthday. I did some online research and together we chose this one. We decided on the Chef's selection which offered a couple of starters and... More
