Good tasting food and beers but check your docket before paying as we were given a bill that was covering items from the next few tables. When queried, the waitress refunded us but no apology was given.

This was an oasis in Hobart with it's beer garden, good beer selection, good food as well as an outdoor smoking area as it was outside the no smoking zone in Hobart. The bar staff (unsure of his name but maybe a Kiwi with a...man bun) were welcoming and helpful as we selected the local beverages. I loved the New Sydney Pale Ale particular in the pint size and my wife loved the Boag's red. We ate there and the chicken parmigiana was amazing as the ham used was exquisite in taste. During our stay we went there once for drinks / dinner and twice for a refreshing beer in the afternoon.More

I've been coming here on work trips for nearly 3 years now, and its always good. When its cold there's a fire by the bar, the beer and whiskey selction is top notch, and the foods excellent. 11/11 would recommend.

! It used to be great but now the food is like cardboard and you have to pay extra for chips and salad which one would expect comes with a pub meal. Service is mediocre and the pub has lost it's locals feel. Full of...tourists so I think they cash in on that but then the tourists are gone and lots of locals have stopped going. Way more better and proper pubs out there. Hope and Anchor better these days and culturally more significant.More

It’s an Irish pub with a great collection of beers in n tap and every dish that comes out of the kitchen looks and smells great. We had the chicken Maryland and the lamb shanks. Both good. The wine list is a bit expensive but...other than that we had a great night.More

Really enjoyed this place. The pigs ears have a really good side sauce. The cabbage was a surprise hit as well. I’d rate the hamburger up there too. Ate in the bar but the service was great. Definitely worth a visit

Couldn't fault a thing... a genuine, no-ego Hobart pub-dining institution that has authentic spot on service, great food and cold beer.

Extremely welcoming and accommodating staff, did not book ahead but they found a table albeit with limited time but that was ok it suited us. We had just missed the live Irish Music which was a pity. The food was just ok pub quality, a...bit overpriced for the quality I thought.More

I visited on a Wednesday evening, felt extremely comfortable as a solo diner, pleasant atmosphere, enjoyable background music, extremely welcoming and accommodating staff. I ordered the steak, chips, and green dressed salad leaves with mushroom sauce, it was absolutely divine, best steak AND best chips...I've eaten in decades. Thoroughly enjoyed my dish, drinks and visit, and commended the wonderful young lass upon her impeccable service. Highly recommend this place.More

A fairly ordinary pub. We went for dinner and sat upstairs. Lots of room and the staff were friendly and accomodating. The food was ok pub quality except for the pork which was undercooked and fatty. Other than the pork everyone enjoyed their meals. Children...were welcomed.More

I honestly can't rave enough about this Irish pub. We went here on a rainy afternoon for beers and ordered some small plates to share. It was all yummy but definitely try the Pigs Ears! And buy a bag of the Tayto Chips - delish....We then came back on Saturday afternoon for the Irish muso jam session. It was soooo good, so many talented musicians enjoying themselves and everyone else in the bar having a wonderful time as well. I doubt you could have a more fun Irish experience outside of Ireland than this. If I lived locally I would be here every Saturday afternoon. What an excellent pub - not to be missed. P.S. 2pm Saturdays for the Irish musicMore

Quoted to be the best little pub in Hobart and it did not disappoint. Friendly staff, mixed range of patrons, good food (I had the porterhouse steak which was delicious and tender) and live music in the rear garden. Walking distance from our hotel near...Salamanca Markets. (date of visit Friday, 29 April).More
