This was our 4th dining experience at The Mess Hall. Every meal has been outstanding, the service friendly and efficient. Just a pity that we can never manage to squeeze in a desert! Highly recommend.

Each time we visit Melbourne we always come for a wine and shared plates. Have also had great coffee here. The staff are most pleasant without fail. Much obliged to put the heater on outside for us.

We attended early on a Friday night, just as the CBD workers strolled in. The food is Italian in orientation, pasta was good albeit bland.

I am often in Melbourne on business. Eating on my own can in some restaurants can feel a little awkward, however the Mess Hall provides great food, service in a small smart casual atmosphere where being in your own is not a problem.

We had dinner at the Mess Hall on our way to the Princess Theatre. Every course was delicious. We had the aranchini and gnocchi for starters with cocktails, and the wild boar ragu and a risotto special for mains. For cocktails we had a Nomayo...More

Despite the dreary wet Melbourne morning, our moods were glowing after breakfast at The Mess Hall. The joint was packed & we were squeezed in by the kitchen but it only added to “the vibe” (Dennis Denuto would love it). I had poached eggs with...More

Greeted by a beautiful marble counter top with display of fresh pastries, clean architecture and pared back interiors, its hard to fault the Mess Hall on presentation. The food was interesting and well presented. Another lovely cafe at the top end of Bourke Street. Certainly...More
